Show Flora Nellie Smith Leibemmth ESCALANTE Flora Nellie Smith Leibenguth, 80, passed away, April 7, 1998 at her home in Escalante. She was born Jan. 20, 1918 in Henrieville, to James Edward and Nellie Elizabeth Chynowelh Smith. She married John Walter Leibcnguih, August 12, 1941 in Pioche, Ncv. He died April 5, 1991. The marriage was solemnized solem-nized in the St. George LDS Temple, Oct. 12, 1996. She is survived by children, Marie and Weldon Porter, Edward Jake and Kathy Leibenguth; daughter-in-law, Sandra Miller, all of Escalante; seven grandchildren; grandchil-dren; 17 great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters, Ruby Moore, Doris Liles and Iris Bushnell all of Henrieville, Marjorie Ford, Henderson, Nev., Deward Smith, Hawthorne, Nev., Alta Rae Hanson, Han-son, Salt Lake City. She was preceded in death by son, Alton J. Leibenguth; parents; brother and sister, Layton Smith and Laura Clark Funeral services were held on Friday, Apr. 10, 1998 in Escalante, Esca-lante, with Bishop Wade Barney officiating. The family prayer was given by a grandson, Dirk Durfey. and prelude and postlude music was played by Areola Gates. Paula Shakespear, a grand-daugter, grand-daugter, gave the invocation and Marlcne Haws, Deon Alvey, and Geraldine Liston sang, "Beyond The Sunset," accompanied by Areola Gates. Brenda Williams, a granddaughter, grand-daughter, gave a tribute, and the grandchildren sang, "I Am A Child Of God," accompanied by Lisa Nez. Lori Ahlstrom, a granddaughter, granddaugh-ter, gave a tribute, and another granddaughter, Trenadie Lciben guth, sang "The Rose," accompanied accom-panied by Paula Shakespear. i i '- "r " ' l N Flora Leibenguth Dirk Durfey gave a speech and remarks were made by Bishop Wade Barney. Karen Peterson sang "Wind Beneath My Wings," and the benediction was offered by Lisa Nez. Pallbearers were grandsons Walter Grant Leibenguth, Dirk Durfey, Dave Williams, Greg Shakespear, John Ahlstrom, and George Nez. Honorary pallbearers were Jake Leibenguth, Weldon Porter, Deward Smith, Shane Shakespear, Drew Williams, Clinton Shakespear, Dusty Ahlstrom, Ahl-strom, Keaton Durfey, Jeffrey Shakespear, Clayte Durfey, Brandon Bran-don Nez, Kayson Durfey, Jesse Ahlstrom, Afton Nez, and Cort Durfey. Flower girls were Alisha Ahlstrom, Ahl-strom, Jerica Durfey, Jatanna Williams, Brooke Williams, and Jaycee Nez. Burial was in the Escalante Cemetery under the direction of Neal S. Magleby & Sons Mortuary, Mortu-ary, Richfield. The dedication of the grave was offered by Stan Mccham, a nephew. Iddo Leon Wilson ST. GEORGE Iddo Leon Wilson, 74, passed away at his home in St. George on Apr. 6, 1998. He was born June 11, 1923 in Hillsdale, Utah, a son of Paul L. and Mary Elizabeth Jones Wilson. Wil-son. He married LaWren Wright. In 1975 he married Ruth Webb, they were loving parents to eight children. He was a veteran of WWII serving in General Patton's 4th Armored Division, where he earned the Bronze Star for heroism hero-ism under fire. He retired from Geneva Steel in Orem as a master mas-ter welder. He dedicated his life to his family and the LDS Church. He was a sealer in three temples and, with Ruth, he served missions mis-sions in Atlanta, Toronto, and Fresno, Calif., and a Family History His-tory Service mission in St. George. They were ordinance workers for 13 12 years at the St. George LDS Temple. He is survived by his wife, Ruth, of St. George; eight children: chil-dren: Colleen (Mike) Rondas, Orem; John Peterson, Los Angeles. Ange-les. Calif.; Jan (LeRoy) Clark, Cottonwood, Ariz.; Ann (Jack) Daugherty, Jupiter, Flor.; Leon (Cris) Wilson, Denver, Colo.; Paul (Atina) Wilson, Springville; Jae Tolvert, Denver, Colo.; and Jil (Deward) Murray, Orem; 37 grandchildren and 14 greatgrandchildren. great-grandchildren. "The world is a better place for his having lived in it." Funeral services were Tuesday, Tues-day, Apr. 14 at the St. George LDS East Stake Center. Interment was at the St. George City Cemetery under the direction of Metcalf Mortuary, St. . George. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the LDS Missionary program. |
