Show Clara Giles Worthen PANGUITCH Our beloved wife, grandmother and sister, Clara Giles Worthen, age 81, passed away at the home of a daughter in Panguitch on June 21, 1996. She was born November 5, 1914 in Giles, Utah, a daughter of John and Addie Bell Ellett Giles. She married S. LaMar Worthen of Panguitch, Garfield County, Utah on October 23, 1932 in Loa, Utah. Their marriage was solemnized in the St. George LDS Temple October 18, 1934. Clara was an active member of the LDS Church, serving in all auxiliaries including stake leadership. leader-ship. She was a member of DUP Camp Cornelia. She loved genealogy geneal-ogy and was an instructor. She was an outstanding homemaker and excellent ex-cellent cook. Her kitchen was always al-ways open to everyone. She loved to quilt, crochet, and do other handiwork hand-iwork which included tatting. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. One of her greatest great-est joys was having her grandchildren grandchil-dren around her. She had a very strong testimony of the Gospel and lived her religion. She worked as a waitress, cook and silk finisher. She is survived by her husband of Las Vegas, Nev.; children: John Scott and Belva Worthen of Benson, Ariz.; Maurine and Marvin Skougard of Las Vegas, Nev.; Karen and William J. Nay of Panguitch; Jerry Worthen of Las Vegas, Nev.; Etta and Daymon Stephans of South Jordan; 25 grandchildren, 45 great-grandchildren; three great great-grandchildren; sister Melva and Ray Lindsay. She was preceded in death by four sisters and two brothers: Libby Shakespear, Lila Bentley, Cleo Brinkerhoff, Mada Alvey, John Giles and Henry Giles and by one grandson, Terry W. Nay. Funeral services were held Wednesday, June 26 at the Panguitch 3rd Ward LDS Chapel in Panguitch, with Bishop Kirby Black of the Las Vegas, Nev. Christy Meadows LDS Ward officiating. offici-ating. A family prayer was offered by Dayon Stephans, a son-in-law and prelude music was played by Barbara Heaton. The invocation was given by nephew Larry Deem, with a musical musi-cal selection sung by Sandra Peterson, "Amazing Grace," accompanied ac-companied by Barbara Heaton. The f Clara Worthen eulogy was given by Etta Stephans, a daughter; a tribute was offered by granddaughter Denise Skougard, and a speech was given by Hilma Excell, a close friend. Another musical selection was sung by Than Cooper, Diane Westwood and Pam Lewis, "That Wonderful Mother Of Mine," accompanied ac-companied by Kathleen Cooper. A speech was given by grandson Martin Nay, remarks made by Bishop Kirby Black, and a musical selection sung by granddaughter Christi Nay, "Beyond The Sunset." The benediction was offered by Barbara Heaton. Interment was in the Panguitch Cemetery, with the dedication of the grave offered by Bobby Joe Nay, a grandson. Pallbearers were Gary Skougard, Mark Skougard, LaMar Nay, LaRae Nay, Daymon Stephans, and John Stephans. Honorary pallbearers were W.J. Nay, Paul Worthen, Brent Skougard, Shayne Skougard, Zane Drake, Buddy Skougard, Wyatt Stephans, Mike Hill, Alex Nay, Martin Cole Nay, Marvin Skougard, Corey Worthen, Brian Skougard, Jerry LaMar Worthen, Bradley Skougard and Jason Skougard. Compassionate services were offered of-fered by the Panguitch 3rd Ward LDS Relief Society and funeral services ser-vices were under the direction of Springer Turner Funeral Homes, Richfield. |
