Show I : mme: iotpiimim:: z::::i Henry Smith Alvey ESCALANTE Henry Smith Alvey, 72, who was a kind and gentle gen-tle man and dearly loved by his family, died March 12, 1993 at the Valley View Medical Center of a heart attack. He was born March 11, 1921 in Escalante, Utah to Samuel James Alvey and Sariah Christina Haws. He married his sweetheart Betty Roundy on May 5, 1947 in Salt Lake City, Utah. The marriage was later solemnized in the St. George LDS Temple on Feb. 19, 1966. Smith was a member of the Teamsters Union and worked road construction for 26 years. He was an elder in the LDS church, served in the Sunday School presidency and other positions. He was a member of the Escalante Riding Club, the Escalante American Legion Le-gion and served his country during WWII in the U.S. Army in North Africa and Italy, where he was decorated deco-rated with a purple heart and five silver stars. He was a life-long farmer and rancher in Escalante and enjoyed the out-of-doors, especially hunting trips with his sons. He loved raising horses and was an outstanding horseman. Survivors include his wife of Escalante; children Linda Lou and husband Jay Stokes of Riverton, Utah; Irene and husband Greg Tait of South Jordan, Utah; Johnny Smith and wife Michelle Alvey of Palmdale, California; Tony Roundy Alvey of Newhall, California and Frank Dean and wife Angie Alvey of Cedar City, Utah; 13 grandchildren; grand-children; brothers Arnold Alvey of Escalante, Utah and Ray L. Alvey of Roy, Utah and sister, Mrs. Ethan (Wanda) Hansen of Layton, Utah. Funeral services were held Tuesday, Tues-day, March 16, 1993 at 1 p.m. in the Escalante 2nd Ward LDS Chapel Cha-pel with Bishop Reed Munson officiating. offi-ciating. Prelude and postlude music mu-sic was provided by Susan Wilson with a brother, Ray L. Alvey offering the family prayer. Stokes, accompanied by daughter-in-law, Michelle Alvey. Daughter Irene Tait gave a history his-tory followed by a tribute from sons Frank, Johnny and Tony Alvey. The grandchildren sang "Because I Have Been Given Much," accompanied by Michelle Alvey. Brother-in-law Jerry C. Roundy spoke, with Bishop Reed Munson offering remarks. Lynn and Delane Griffin sang "Empty Saddle." and son-in-law Jay Stokes gave the benediction. Pallbearers were Bud Woolsey, Chad Stokes, Kerry Tait, Arnold Alvey, Ralph Siple, Floyd Roundy, Ethan Hansen and Jimmy Smith. Honorary pallbearers were Jody Tait, Cameron Alvey, Edison Alvey, Jeff Tait, Carson Alvey and Melvin Alvey. Interment was in the Escalante Cemetery with the dedication of the grave performed by brother-in-law Vivian E. Roundy and under the direction di-rection of Southern Utah Mortuary, Cedar City. Arvel Henrie KEARNS Arvel Henrie, age 76, our beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully March 18, 1993 following a lingering illness. He was bom March 4, 1917 in Tropic, Utah to Chester and Pearl Benson Henrie. He was raised in Panguitch, Utah and graduated from Panguitch High School. He married Dawna Perkins on March 16, 1939; she died December 23, 1950. He married lone Torgersen LeFevre on February 27, 1952. They celebrated their 41st wedding anniversary Feb. 27 of this year. Mr. Henrie served two years in the South Pacific during WWII,. He was an elder in the LDS church. He loved the outdoors especially fishing, hunting and camping. He Joshua "Josh" Kile ESCALANTE Joshua James Kile, 19, died March 21, 1993 at his home in Escalante, Utah. He was born Sept. 14, 1973 in Long Beach, Calif, to Terry Allen and Sandra Lou Gray Kile. A graduate of Escalante High School, he was a member of the basketball team. He was employed as a roughneck at oil wells in Wyoming and truly loved to hunt and fish. He is survived by his parents, Escalante, Utah; one brother and one sister, Terry Allen Kile, Jr., Escalante, Utah and Marcy and husband hus-band Mohr L. Christcnscn, Escalante, Esca-lante, Utah; grandparents, Jesse and Grace Gray, Nebraska; Irene Gray, Las Vegas, Nev. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, March 25, 1993 at 1 p.m. in the Escalante 2nd LDS Ward Chapel. Friends may call at the ward chapel in Escalante on Thursday from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 " . Donald Griffin ESCALANTE Funeral services ser-vices for Donald Griffin, 67, who died March 15, 1993 were held on Friday, March 19, 1993 at 1:00 p.m. at the Escalante 2nd LDS Ward Chapel. Bishop Reed Munson officiated the service, with Susan Wilson providing the prelude and postlude music. The family prayer was offered of-fered by Steve King and Kevin Moore gave the invocation. A vocal vo-cal trio with Marlene Haws, Dcon Alvey and Geraldine Liston sang "Let The Rest of the World Go By," and Val Veatcr gave a tribute. DcLane Griffin and Lynn Griffin sang a vocal duet of "That Silver Haired Daddy of Mine." Both De-Lane De-Lane Griffin and Bishop Reed Munson Mun-son offered remarks, followed by a vocal trio comprised of Val Veater, loved music and really enjoyed playing his guitar and having a sing-a-long. He was a very fun-loving fun-loving person. Survivors include his wife, lone; children, John, Arlene, Craig and Camille; five stepchildren; Walter LeFevre, Roger LeFevre, Karen Dissel, Larry LeFevre and Lorraine Kapp; 23 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren, all of whom loved him dearly; two brothers, Lester and Archie Henrie; sister, Roma Barney. Funeral services were held Monday, March 22, 1993, at 1 p.m. at the Kearns 4th LDS Ward, Kearns, Utah. Interment was at Valley View Memorial Park, .. West Valley City, Utah. Maglcby & Sons Mortuary, Richfield. Emil A. "Unk" Norton I PANGUITCH Emil A. "Unk" Norton, 77, of Panguitch, Utah died on March 18, 1993 in the Richfield Care Center in Richfield, Utah. He was born on October 26, 1916 in Panguitch, Utah to Albert and Agnes Miller Norton. A veteran of WWII, he lived in Panguitch all of his life and was a brick mason by trade. He was a friend to everybody and will surely be missed. Survivors include one sister, two brothers and one sister-in-law: Mamie N. Talbot, Panguitch, Utah; McLaine and his wife Dorothy R. Norton, Brigham City, Utah; Leo and his wife Charlene H. Norton, Bountiful, Utah and Dora C. Norton, Nor-ton, Provo, Utah. He was preceded in death by his parents, Allie and Aggie Miller Norton and one brother V.M. Norton. Funeral services were held Tuesday, Tues-day, March 23, 1993 at 1 p.m.in the Panguitch Third LDS Ward Chapel in Panguitch, Utah with Bishop James H. Hatch officiating. Laine Norton offered the family prayer prior to opening the service. Irene McEwen and Beth B. Hurst provided the prelude and postlude music and Neidra N. Crisp gave the invocation. A musical selection, "Behold A Royal Army," was sung by the Panguitch Tri-Ward Choir, directed by Karran Harris and accompanied ac-companied by Pam Robison. Diane Jensen Houston gave a tribute, followed by a Piano Solo by Joan Norton. President Stanley Foy offered remarks and the Panguitch Pangui-tch Tri-Ward Choir rendered "Abide With Me, Tis Eventide." Leo Nor- Jason Sherman LeFevre TROPIC Jason Sherman LeFevre, Le-Fevre, 16, of Tropic, Utah died March 21, 1993 in Salt Lake City, Utah. He was born May 26, 1977 at Panguitch, Utah to Reed F. and Mary Almeda Davis LeFevre. Jason was a very special child who quickly worked his way into the hearts of all who knew him. He loved everyone, young and old alike. The sunshine in the lives of his friends and family, he will be remembered for his loving ways, the fond kisses he blew and his cheerful "Hi, Cutie." He will be especially missed by his friends where he attended school in Tropic. Survivors include his parents, Tropic; two brothers and three sisters and their spouses Laurie and William Eddie, Tropic; Sandra and Ervin Madsen, Panguitch; Mark and Barbara LeFevre, Tropic; Sheila and Clayton Harper, Wendover, Nev.; and Travis LeFevre, Tropic; grandmother, grand-mother, Melda Davis, Cannonville, Utah.
