Show HOUSE PASSES BILL FOR LAND AT ZION AND BRYCE washington june ai 9 representative colton monday afternoon called up and obtained passage by the house of the two bills authorizing important additions to zion and and bryse canyon national parks the bills billat having previously passed the tha senate now go to the president tor for hi his s approval having been originally recommended by director albright of 0 the national parks service and approved ly by secretary wilber the bills are running no ot of presidential veto and probably will he be signed within the allotted ten days the zion park bill would add 17 acres to the park along the southeast southe abt south and southwest boundaries and i riot not only bring under park control the areas that will be reached over the new mount carmel highway but peri mit a more attractive entrance to the park and provide adequate camping space tor for tourists r the bryce canyon bill permits the I 1 addition af 0 t acres or as much as may be found desirable upon survey including a strip along alofia the west boundary which which 1 is desired tor for the co construction st of an automobile road along the rim of the canyon and to open up the natural bridge and other scenic areas lying to the south of the park much bluth of 0 tho the added territory now inaccessible for or lack of roads Is simi similar liar ilar in character to the present bryce bowl Th elands the lands west and south ot of bryce will wil be surveyed this summer auram or and the exact boundaries of 0 the enlarged barged park will then be determined the bill empowers the president formally to make this addition by proc la ania matlou tion when the surveys have beau completed salt lake tribune |
