Show JULY 13,2006 THE GARFIELD COUNTY INSIDER ANTIMONY NEWS We have had some welcome rain, but there is still hay down in some of the fields. The Clint Hardman's have been here for a few days to help out for the 4th of July celebration, and also at the Subdivision, as he is the builder of the signs at the entrance. The signs will get painted soon, and a fence built. A large crowd of people were here over the holiday: David, Verla and Charlotte Sorenson, from San Diego. Happy Birthdays to Seth Porter on July 7th, and also to Jane Wiley on July 8th! by Earl Roe wearlroe@yahoo.com • 676-2376 And the rain came again,-and again,— and again and it is appreciated by everyone with a possible exception of the farmers whose hay is not up or was just recently cut. Our area sorely needed it and it is surely a boon to those who are fighting the wildfires throughout Southern Utah. I am going to have to get my daughter, Deanna, to be my proof reader if I keep making mistakes in the Knothole. (Either that or Ryan will fire me.) I apologize to Gary & Carla (Cooper) Owens for leaving off the "Owens", but I still remember most of my former female students by their maiden name and just write it automatically. (Carla's mother, Irene Cooper, alerted me to Tyler's accomplishments so the name just flowed to my keyboard.) LENDER Since the flow of news through the Knothole is a little slow Up to now, I have decided to get in a "Panguitch Connection" which I have been saving for just such a slow week. Evalyn and I had heard "Giving You A Better Option For Your Mortgage Needs" so many favorable comments about the Mahti Pageant that we decided to see it Free Prequalifications - Give us a call. "Heavenly Father, why did my Son have to die on a cross outside of Jerusalem?" had known in school. Getting back to our 4th of July activiThe answers to all these are similar "So that others may Iiave life and ties, our- Lions Club Breakfast was quite dwell in peace, happiness and freedom." This was entailed to me with no well attended with many former residents author and I thought tfye magnitude and the simplicity were awesome and visitors enjoying the food and visiting with friends. I'm going to Community Mortgage B0UW.HOMHQ Page 4 talk with this year's Junior class who will be in charge of the activities next year and see if they will start the parade at 1 st East and Main (East of the bank) and end at the Court House then the people who are eating (and serving) breakfast can also watch it. (Thats only a block longer and I am sure the young ones can do it.) Allen and JoAnn Miller held a Family Reunion for their major activity. AH of their 6 children & spouses were present and most of their 25 grand children and 36 great grandchildren brought the total attendance to '83. On the evening of July 3rd they all gathered at Tony's & Nan Matthew's cabin at the lake for dinner and a fun evening then continued their activities the next day at Allen's and JoAnn's home in Panguitch for lunch and more fun and games. The children of Lamar and Sandra Stoker put together a surprise birthday party for Sandra during the weekend of the 4th and according to Barbara Marshall (my news source), it was a real surprise for Sandra. The party was held at Sterling's (Lamar's son) cabin at Bryce Woodlands and with Lamar, Sandra, and their children; six children of Lamar's brother, Doug (deceased), and several guests from the Panguitch Lake area, the guest list topped out at 50. Children and grandchildren of Eva Marshall staged a Birthday Party and Family Reunion on the 8th of this month to honor Eva on her 96th birthday. Approximately 100 people gathered at Red Canyon for these two family activities which had to be cut a little short.because of rain. (Eva said that whenever someone gives her a birthday party, no matter where it is held, it always rains.) Ardith Davis drove Art & Beverly back to Salt Lake the first part of this month (following one dry run) for surgery and other corrective measures on his eyes which the doctor promised would improve his vision. Art came home to recuperate and Ardith drove them back again last Friday for a post operative check and Art learned that what the doctor promised, happened. He is now home and very pleased to again see things that he had not been able to see for several years. Bill (his son) said that dad could even do a good job driving the windrower once again. At our first meeting on July 4th, Greg Payne became President of the Panguitch Lions Club. Roberta Irish held this position for the past year and now becomes Chairman of the Board of Directors. Roberta was our first female president and did an excellent job. Her husband, Rick Irish, became Vice-Governor of Region t 28T and next year will become the first District Governor from the Panguitch Lions Club. Don't forget the free "Movie in the Park" (Pink Panther) this Friday; 9 o'clock, (weather permitting.) Courtesy of Panguitch Lions Club.
