Show Page 3 OCTOBER 19,2006 THE GARFIELD COUNTY INSIDER LEGAL NOTICES RED CANYON CAMPGROUND, VISITOR CENTER TO CLOSE FOR WINTER PANGUITCH, Utah — The Dixie National Forest's Powell Ranger District will close the Red Canyon Campground for the 2006 season on October 15, and the Red Canyon Visitor Center on October 28. The district anticipates reopening the campground for the 2007 season sometime in mid-April and the visitor center no later than Easter, depending on weather conditions. The visitor center has welcomed 53,000 travelers so far this year, an increase of eight percent from last year. The visitor center also expanded its popular solar scoping, stargazing and nature hiking programs this year. "We are very happy with the success of this year's interpretive programs, and look forward to continuing them next year," said Richard Costigan, Red Canyon Visitor Center manager.
