Section of Gas Pipeline A proposed $515 million to carry natural gas from Wyoming to California will cost the Rocky Mountain Pipeline Company $49,798,000 to run its pipeline through Millard County through Millard County from the Juab County line south to Beaver County. Much of that cost will be to purchase rights-of-wathrough private and public lands. The pipeline will also pour $568,000 annually into the countys coffers in taxes. County Commissioner Stewart spent three days helping the projects survey engineer develop a route through Scipio Pass and Cove Fort Pass. He said, Millard Countys share of the benefits will be larger than any other of the 10 llt-- h counties the pipeline will pass through. Stewart said this is due partly to the mountain passes and partly to the large size of Millard County. The only county along the four state route to benefit more than Millard will be Clark County in Nevada. A partnership is propose pipeline ing to construct the system. Earlier this year. In California, the pipeline will tie in to existing systems of Pacific Gas and Electric Company (PGTs parent) and Southern California Gas Co., who will jointly construct a connecting pipeline. Both Pacific Interstate Transmission and Southern California Gas are subsidiaries of Pacific Light Corp., Los Angeles. As now routed, the pipeline will originate from a point of interconnection with Northwest Pipeline near Sage, Wyoming. It will transport an initial volume of 413 million cubic feet a day and will have one compressor station near Sage. This station will have two compressor units of approximately 11.000 hp each, and one added spare standby unit. Addition of future compression facilities will boost the lines capacity to over 800 million cubic feet a day. In addition to a maintenance base at Sage, four other bases will be established near Heber City, Nephi and Cedar City, Utah; and Las Vegas, Nevada. Operating headquarters will be in Salt Lake City, Utah, and compressor units will be remotely controlled from there. It is planned that pipeline construction will occur in 1982 with six construction spreads working simultaneously. Each will average about 5,000 feet a day in flat terrain and about 2,500 in rough country. Average work force per spread will be about 150 to Continued on Page 5 PGT New Bank Opened The Fillmore branch of National First Zion's opened its doors for business Monday, September 15, 1980.
