Ina For SENIOR CITIZENS PROGRAM d skbrina In MILLARD COUNTY Program for Auxiliary &arja5&s,i,, ' Year-Roun- Tne month of May has been designated as Senior Citizens month in the State of Utah. It is also a time to inform people of the Senior Citizen program in Millard County.. The Millard Council of Aging was organized flour years organizaago as a tion for the benefit cf senior citizens. The project has two centers, one at Fillmore and one at Delta The Del Patio Recreation Center and the M. E. Bird Recreation Center are headquarters for the groups. The project has been sponsored by Utah Division of Aging, Millard County Resource Development Association and Millard County. The project was financed during the first three years under the Older American Act In peration with the State of Utah. Matching funds locally was In donated labor and buildings. Since August 1970. the project has been sponsored by the county. Mrs. George (Sehrlna) Eklns was appointed county coor 5n-at- rr of the council with Dalle Rogers, direct r at Fillmore, and Glen W. Soegmillcr, director at Delt. After the death of Mr. Rogers, his wife Rose was appointed by the C minis sloners as direct r at Fillmore. The purpose of the project Is to provide recrcati nal, social oducatowd and other meaningful activities for widows, widowers and anyone past 55 years rf age. The membersh p fee is $1. per year. During the past four years activities sponsored at the Del Patio have averaged an activity every Wednesday besides the oil painting classes. Of Scclal Interest are the bus trips. Eight mnjir trips were enj. yod last year beside one day trips In private cars. This year, three major trips have bven taken - - to Las Vegas In March, to the Lawrence Wclk Show and a BYU play and dinner In the Sky Room in April.
