Livingston jr. last Saturday and the little one is receiving a warm welcome. v Grandfather Erick Larson of Cleveland Cleve-land paid his respects to the Progress last Thursday, looking far better than he fancied he felt. Emery Larsen, our local tonsonal artist, has just installed a rmdern bath room equipment in the rear room of his barber shop and is well fitted to take care of all bathly wants. Word comes to local relatives of the appointment of Frank Reynolds, formerly form-erly of Castledale but now living at Driggs, Idaho, to the position of bishop of that ward. Congratulations! Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Singleton and and Mr. and Mrs. A. G. Conover of Ferron are no-v touring the Golden Gate state and taking in the big fair, having left here the forepart of the week. Jimmie Petersen and family returned yesterday from a most enjoyable visit among relatives .in the Reservation country; and what is better: he comes home more loyal than ever to the Kingdom King-dom of Emery. The affair begins at 2 o'clock and will end when all gathered get good and ready. Among the list of graduates from the B. Y. U. this year appears the namea of Miss Chloe Palmer, who secured her bachelor of arts degree, and Misses Geneva Anderson and Nina Nixon, who secured Normal school certificates. Mrs. Louisa Crapo (nee Beebe) who has been visiting with relatives and friends the past two weeks was joined i Thursday by her husband, J. Clement Crapo, a former music instructor in the 1 E. S. A., who will visit here with her ' for a week or ten days. I I Elgin Kofford left last week for a visit vi-sit with "friends" in Salt Lake. Miss ' Addie Collingham has been living in ' Salt Lake for the past year but wheth-1 wheth-1 er there will be a lady by that particu-j particu-j lar name after Elge returns home is doubtful. A. L. Toone, chief deputy to H. T. Haines, state labor commissioner, made a flying trip through the county this week but found everything up to mark as to the emplovment of female help. Toone does not look unlike Haines and he also is an old printer. Mr. and Mrs. C T. Bowen left Thursday by machine for a v'sit East, going by way of Salt Lake and the Lincoln highway. Edd Crawford will attend to repair work and driving in ' Bowen's absence, while Randal Ander-' Ander-' sen "keeps shop" during bank hours. The overhauling of the county courthouse court-house is nearly completed now. Orson MaJsen's bid on the job was accepted and it has been under his direction that the work has been done. The building will present a new appearance inside and out. The Young Ladies association members mem-bers gave a farewell party to Mrs. Lulu Killpack at the home of the latter's parents last Tuesday evening. Mrs. Killpack, has been a willing and efficient worker in stake and ward a jx iliary association work and will be much missed in che community. Niels Jorgensen has been working the past week on a cement floored garage and coal shed for the Progress pen-pusher and is making an excellent job of it. Mr. Jorgensen is an experienced experi-enced carpentar of the "old Country school", and, knowing 'his business as he does, is proving himself a very beneficial bene-ficial addition to the community. Who is there in Emery county who will adopt and take good care of a six-year six-year old little boy the brightest kind j of a little fellow who needs but a good j home and a fair chance in life to be-I be-I come "some man"? The spirit displayed by these loyal citizens is to be commended and will not soon be forgotten by those who were not "on the job" among whom was the writer, we are sorry to say. We don't pretend to surmise the thoughts of some of the knockers of the town who will not work nor appreciate the work of others, but hope they kept their little hammers at home, at least. Mr. and Mrs. S. D. Bunnell, in their fine Studebaker, accompanied by their Idiughters Lulu and Nellie, left for j Storrs last Thursday noon from which place they will continue on to Salt Like where Lulu will meet her hug-' hug-' band, Montrose Killpack, who is returning re-turning from a three years mission to the Society Islands. Tne latter couple will not return but will proceed direct to their prospective new home in Idaho Montrose had suffered bad health the latter part of his mission and had to be escorted to Salt Lake by missionary companions. Jos. Denison sr. returned the otl er day from Sunnyside where he had been to visit his eldest son Joseph who was badly burned in a dust explosion which ocured on the 11th. The injured man was running the crusher for No. 1 mine and was in tne topmost part of the machinery ma-chinery oiling the same when the explosion ex-plosion threw him into a coal bin some fifteen feet below. He managed to crawl out ofjthis before help came. His clothes were all afire and his face and hands were burned severely. It will be some time before he can go to work a-gain a-gain but is getting along nicely under Dr. Dowd's care. Get the habit of going to J. C.
