Show - ? Serving the Mining Area of East Carbon. Volume 7,000 population $900,000 monthly payroll. DRAGERTON, CARBON COUNTY, UTAH, TUESDAY, MARCH 2$, 1954 7 New Maternity Wing Completed Soon At Utah Permanente The Utah Permanente hospital today announced the new building and remodeling program that began in August, 1952, to enlarge all departments and the construction of an all new maternity wing is to be completed within the next sixty days. All departments, including new outpatient clinic, new operating room, delivery room, laboratory, kitchen and emergency facilities have been completed. The new maternity wing, which is now being finished will have features that have been installed in several large Kaiser foundation hospitals on the west x-ra- y, coast. One of the most modern developments is the kind of room used for maternity care. Here, along side of the head of each bed is a bassinet in which the baby is kept. The drawer pushes into a cubicle (individual nursery) with glass window, in back of the mother where the nurse can take care of it. The mother can have her baby whenever she desires and also put baby back in the nursery when she tires, without having to call a- nurse. A light automatically comes on when baby is in the nursery, signalling the nurse that the baby is now in her care. A new Isolette machine for all new borns as well as premature babies will be located in the maternity wing, as well as two new instrument sterilizers. Also located in the OB wing will be a suspect nursery for those babies who must be isolated for a period of time. The hospital is planning to hold an open house when construction is finished so those living in and around this area may have an opportunity to see all the new improvements. drawer-lik- e - Scott Jeffs Carbon Dancers Four Favorite Guy Chi Omega Coeds Scott Jeffs, son of Mr. and Mrs. Mark Jeffs of 429 Edgehill Drive, Sunnyside, has been honored with the favorite guy selection of the Alpha Chi Omega Coeds at USA-C- .
