The May 26 County tax sale included a 640 acre plot of ground formerly belonging to the Immanuel Foundation. High bid on the property was from Ranger Enterprises. On June 6, when the tax sales were scheduled for ratification, Immanuel Foundation representatives. were conferring with Federal Judge Thomas Greene in Salt Lake City to request a Restraining Order. Judge Greene did not grant the order. Beaver County Commissioners gave Talmage Weis, Immanuel Foundation leader, until June 20 to pay the taxes. When Weis did not comply, Barton, under the direction ‘of the Commissioners, ratified the sale and issued a tax deed which was recorded that same day.
