Fellow Students, I remember the went through my thoughts and when I first came man ton S Charlie Hansen Assistant Editor thoughts that mind, all my expectations, to Dixie not so long ago. One of the things I thought how I could get about was involved. How do I join the clubs that are on campus? How can I get into the different organizations? Well, the way I did it was to ask all the wise old sophomores. But rejoice! Now you have a student handbook to tell you. This is why the student was handbook printed. I would like to tell you another way. Work for the Dixie Sun. We are looking for people who want to get involved, to have fun working on worthwhile projects, and meeting new people. The goals we have set this a paper are high ones, but we can't accomplish this without help. The paper does not belong to the school. It is year, as the student's paper. It's your paper. So, lets make it a great year by your personal involvement. Some of the things we plan to do differently this year are: To have a classified ads section for the students who want to buy or sell items. "Rides and Riders" section for those people who need to get home and for those who need riders to help pay for gas. There will be further c of gaii of th government. At this time I would like to give you a few tips as a returning student to help you start your first year. story fathei than cil I Dorm Life Unless you are living with some old friends from back home you are going to be living with three or more other persons from different backgrounds than your own. Get to know them, do things together by taking part in different school activities or create your own. If you have a special talent use it to help others, work as a team. Don't become a hermit. Get out of your room and experience life, Dixie style. Dixie has great academic standards and an equally fine social life. It is important to have the social life along with your academic life. Get to know your D.A.'s and Dorm parents, who they are, and where they live. They are here to help you. Carnahans o r n 3 r should be aware Students that all student, faculty, and staff motor vehicles have to be if they are to be registered parked on state property. Those intending to park vehicles on campus can register said vehicles during student registration in the gym. It is also possible to register vehicles at the Security Office in the North Administration Building during posted office hours. students must obtain a permit. The permit is issued in lieu of the regular state registration and license. The permit must be shown on the vehicle with a current safety inspection sticker. LITTLE The permit fee is 50 cents. Students working full t in Utah are required to rej their vehicles and obtar current vehicle license at House in County Court George. Parking is abundant on Dixie College campus. All d nated parking areas are cu and surfaced. There are parking areas in the interio the campus. Under no cin stances is parking allowed loading zones or unimprr areas of the campus. The t walks are wide for the con ience of students. It is unlai to use the sidewalks for mi vehicles. Students, use conn sense and avoid vehicle v tions and fines. MAN ON CAMPUS Get Involved If you can sing, act, play an instrument, or have any .other talent you can offer, you will be very happily received. Even if you don't have noticeable talents there are many clubs and organizations you can join and enjoy. A school year can only be as successful as you make it. If you have any problems come to the AMS Council. We're here to help and advise you on any subject. We have an office on the first floor of the Student Union. Come there, look around campus for a student wearing a yellow AMS jacket, or ask for Geary Laitinen anytime. We're here to help you. Good luck and have a great year. nf.
