Show OBITUARY NOTES EMILY B S V ANDERSON died at grantsville Grants ville tooele thoele county utah may 1896 of pneumonia emily sophia Voi gren wife of august K anderson anderaon sister anderson andersen joined the church of jesus christ of latter day saints in Carls hamn sweden in her youth came to utah in the year 1865 was married to A K anderson anderaon in 1869 and was the mother of ten children seven of whom she has gone to meet on the other side she leaves gi a husband and three children and a host of friends to mourn her loss loan she was a faithful wife a loving mother and a tru true friend efriend she was a faithful latter day saint and died in full faith in the gospel the funeral services were held at the meeting house on sunday may 1886 at Y p m T WILLIAMS CAROLINE PHILLIPS summit co utah may 19 t 1896 yesterday in our ward meeting house at 2 pm p m were held the funeral services of caroline phillips widow ot of the late john phillips phillipa she died aled on the dinst after three weeks lingering illness she was born in bath somer set sete shire hire en england land on the ath of july 1821 arrival arrived in the valley in 1868 first locating in croydon but residing here since 1864 she had no children wm win davis being her only relative the house was filled almost to overflowing by the people of henefer croydon echo and morgan wards the speakers on the occasion were bishop joseph E poster foster ot of henefer and brother richards and bishop anderson of morgan stake timely and in tive remarks were made eulogizing the life ot of the deceased she was gen erous el oils almost to a fault the traveling public having a camping place on her premises for more than thirty years she will be missed and mourned by thousands who held her in high esteem although having no children to lament her departure she was known by all as mother phillips JAMES jamen JANE 8 NIELD jane standing nield beloved wife of joseph merrick nield was suddenly called home on thursday may ath ilg 1896 she was born at rockdale lancashire england may 1827 and in her early womanhood heard the principles of the everlasting gospel declared by one of zions gifted sons captain 0 H wheelock the truths carried conviction to her soul and ultimately led to her baptism on the of april 1861 1851 by elder john cooker at oldham lancashire england prom from the d day of her baptism she never falter faltered but was always a faithful uncomplaining and exemplary latter attar day saint she cheerfully suffered ostracism by her family and willingly took upon herself the yoke of christ in the year 1853 she married joseph merrick nield who survives i her and five children were born to them hem three of whom are now living in 1874 accompanied by her husband and youngest agest child she gathered to zion and located in meadow millard county utah A few years later the rest of her family followed and she was then privileged to labor in the temple at st george for the redemption of her dead the sudden death a few years aal ago ot of lu her beloved and only son luke charles nield principal of richfield Bich field schools was a sad sad blow and the devoted mother never fully recovered from the effects j thereof still with characteristic g ity and confidence sho she bowed meekly to ap her masters will she always manifest N ed the christ like spirit not maywill my will i but thine bedone be done 11 during daring the dark days of the cotton famine in Linca lancashire shire and inthe midst of all her trials and sorrows which at times appeared unusually severe she ever repeated the words ot faithful job though he slay me yet will I 1 trust in him sister nield retired to rest monday monda may ath apparently in the best beat of health health but during the night she must have been attacked with a stroke as she was found insensible next morning she never recovered consciousness and her family were hastily summoned to her bedside all efforts to resuscitate her were in vain and at p m thursday may ath her spirit took its flight and she ahe slept the sleep of th the just ejust the funeral services were held in meadow meeting house on sunday sanday may loth and elders george crane of filmore thomas broadbent of elsinore 13 Goil goodard dard of salt lake city and bishop dishko bennett of meadow spoke of the affect I 1 disposition god fearing spirit devoted and upright life of the deceased she was highly respected and beloved by all her acquaintances and ever bore a faithful testimony to the work of god A large procession followed her remains to the meadow cemetery and the last tributes of respect and esteem were expressed by a host of mourners all of whom endorsed the epitaph I 1 unto death salt batt lake city may 18 1896 millennial star please copy |
