This year's goal is an 80 per cent participation rate among Federal employees, according to the National Director of the U.S. Savings Bond Division. The percentage goal for DTC is however. This will en- -' able the installation to fly the "Minutenun flag" signifying full participation in the payroll savings program. In a memorandum to chairman of Federal Executive Boards and heads of Federal Executive Chairman Robert Associations, E. Hampton of the U. S. Civil Service Commission, urged support of the voluntary campaign. 90, The organizations have played major roles in encouraging participation of Federal employees in previous years. Locally, Governor Calvin L. Bampton of Utah has declared May 1969 to lie "Share in America Month." ' His action was liased on his conviction that the defense of the dollar through the purchase of U.S. Savings Bonds is the keystone of our national debt management policy, according to a proclamation issued by his office. "Savings Bonds, widely distributed in ownership, are basic contributions to the financial health of their individual owner, their families, and their communities, as well as the Nation," the proclamation reads. The governor further urged that "all citizens both public and private sign for Savings Bonds through participation payroll savings." The Senior Logistieian will provide the Director of Personnel and Training with CSDP data. In turn, the Personnel and Training Director will develop a plan for the training requirements and to ensure that CSDP information is included in appropriate training courses. If you have not yet cast jour vote for a free and financially d nation, von still can by electing to participate in DTC's payroll savings plan. The goal for DTC was 90 participation. It will he some while yet before the full results of the drive are known. But it is known now that in spite of the drive some of us at DTC are still letting our ncighliors carry our load. This seems strange, especially as we realize that the cost of participation in the Savings Bond payroll plan is less than the pay increase we all will get July 1. We have been able to live before on our current pay. Why not continue to live as we have, and sock a little away in bonds to provide for that pet project we all have but can little afford since we have liecomc accustomed to spending all our paycheck? The beauty of the payroll savings plan is how painless it is. It requires no effort, and with the new pay raise really requires no sacrifice. Hie returns are many. In addition to the high interest paid by US Savings Bonds and Freedom Shares, we get the satisfaction of knowing we are easing the national debt of the United States thereby strengthening our curAnd a strong dollar means a rency world-widposition for all the free world's economic interests.
