Career Counselors Comer Tired of the scenery here at Dugway or anxious to sample the atmosphere of a foreign country? Well, we might lie able to arrange it so that you can make the scene in any one of a number of areas presently available. We can probably do it through the Overseas Area of Choice reenlistment option, which guarantees that your initial reenlistment duty assignment will lie in the overseas area of your choice, providing that there is a replacement at the location for someone with your primary MOS and grade. To qualify for the Overseas Area of Choice option, which is E-or below and reto open both men and women, you must be an enlist for a term of four, five or six years. For those of you interested in electing this option for a short tour area, you need only enlist for a three-yea- r period. Among the overseas areas currently open under this reenlistment option are USAREUR, USARPAC, USARSO, and USARV. Applying fur this option is a simple process. You must make your request to us not earlier than 30 days prior to your anticipated day of reenlistment. Well ask you to list, in numerical preference, your top three areas of choice. Well then get on the telephone to .the Pentagon and tiy to arrange your first choice. If thats not available, we will then try for second choice and so on. You of course are under no obligation to reenlist until you are satisfied with the area available for assignment. One area that you might want to consider is Vietnam. As we mentioned a few columns ago, a tour in Vietnam offers you an opportunity to make additional money, not only because of the foreign duty and hostile fire pay allowances you will be getting but also because all pay and allowances of enlisted men are tax free. In addition to the monetary advantages of serving in Vieta nam, person stationed in that area gets certain other privileges. For example, he or she will get up to seven days of R & R for every 12 months of service in Vietnam. For this R & R, the Army will fly you, free of charge, to such areas as Hong Kong, Bangkok, Tokyo, Singaof R & R pore, Australia or Hawaii. You will also get three-day- s within Vietnam. If you decide to extend for another six months of Vietnatour is over, you will be mese service, after your initial one-yetransgiven 30 days of non chargeable leave, including free round-tri- p almost free that select. world the in to you any point portation We would like to point out that in addition to the Overseas Area of Choice option, a reenlistee still gets his reenlistment bonus. And, if you are a first term reenlistee, you may also be eligible for a variable Reenlistment Bonus. I would welcome, the opportunity to discuss with you the Overseas Area of Choice option. Also, the many other options available to men and women who stay Army. We are located in room 1802 of building 5450 and keep office hours between 0730 and 1630 hours. 8 ar -- Saving is the key to independence!
