That in itself requires reorganization, redistribution of resources, assets, etc. I ask the workforce, both military and civilian, to understand that. I dont think it's anything new; we've always done that in the Army. After we finish sbme mission and go on to others invariably there is reorgnization, and I again ask the people to understand that. Q. What do you think the future holds in store for and its workforce? A. Well, if the last year is any indication, I have to say that I think the workload will continue to increase. now has seen a significant growth in the number of systems. We have been working on more than 400 major systems for the past.. 10 years to develop and to hand off to the Army in the field. As I look back over the development of the Ml tank program, I can remember some very traumatic times. Many, many people said it would never fly. But, we're half way through the procurement of $7,000-tan- k buy. The bottom line is that if you stay around long enough and work hard enough you'll eventually see that equipment come into the inventory. Frankly, its a good feeling. It's certainly a good feeling for me to see this because I can remember some terrible times with the Congress, with some other government officials and even within the Army itself in deciding if we should depart from the diesel engine, for example, in a tank and move to a gas turbine engine.-Iwas a very dramatic move for the Army. And yet here we are in production in large numbers, and I think it's just - , t ' V J. V 07? V MARKED PRICE great to have seen it. Although rve got to again say that it was a very difficult time in my life and certainly in the lives of all others who had anything to do with the development of the main battle tank, beginning with the MET-7- 0 and transition-Se- e Anderson page 9 V -- !.'
