October brings married program The Army presently has two procedures for married Army couples to request joint assignments. The first, the Army married couples program, encourages couples to enroll on the MIL-PERCE- N data base to ensure simultaneous assign- ment consideration early in the assignment process. The second, the Joint Domicile Program, permits a servicemember to request a joint assignment after the spouse has received ment instructions. By combining the former programs into one, MILPER CEN will have time and greater flexibility to consider married Army couples for assignments where they can establish a common household (within a radius of ap- proximately, one hour driving time of each other). Under the joint program, one assignment was always firm, and the ability to find a requirement for the spouse's skill and pay grade in the same geographic area was both difficult to accommodate and labor intensive on entire personnel community. Using existing and future automation, the military personnel center will be better able to match requirements for two soldiers for the same geographic area. However, this must be done in conjunction with the requisitioning cycle and not after the fact. Soldiers who marry an other servicemember after Oct. 1 will have 60 days from their date of marriage to enroll in the program. AIT trainees who are assigned via STRAMS-- will continue to request joint assignments via DA Form E 4187. Details on enrollment will be furnished to military personnel offices via message, soldiers already enrolled in the program are not affected by the new procedure as enrollment and consideration is continuous once the data is on file. The Married Army Couples Program is a program for considering future assignments. It's not a guarantee of a joint assignment, filling valid Army requirements and responding to readiness needs continue to be paramount in the assignment process. - MILPERCEN n!(SK We Have Senior Citizen Meals At STEAK SPECIAL FSMCESs (60 yrm. and ovw only) Petite sirloin, salad bar, and choice of beverage CKICEXEH-FBIE- D STEAK Chopped steak, salad bar,, and choice of beverage SALAD DAB & STUFFED POTATO pound hamburaer.
