Show WEEKLY REFLEX, DAVIS NEWS JOURNAL, MAY 9, 1984 SORORITY OFFICERS NAMED By NORMA PREECE KAYSVILLE - Beta Sigma Phi County Council celebrated their 53rd "Founders Day" anniversary Thursday evening at the Oakridge Country Club in Farmington. -- KEEP THE Dream Big" provided the theme for the anniversary events under the direction of council president, Bonnie Jo Gessel. The seven chapters of Dais County, Preceptor lota, Xi Chi. Preceptor Mu. Xi Alpha Gamma. Xi Alpha Omicron, Laueate Epsilon and Xi Phi each provided a beautifully decorated table using the title of a song in connection with the theme "Keep the Dream Big." Newly appointed officers for Beta Sigma Phi sorority council are: Kathy Robson, left, president; Margaret Crystal, vice president; Joyce Thompson, secretary and Katie Franke, treasurer. with certificates and gifts. First place went to Xi Alpha Gamma with A Dream Is A Wish Your Heart Makes as their theme song; 2nd place, Laueate Epsilon Chapter with the song, My Isle of Golden Dreams" and 3rd place to Preceptor Iota Chapter with their song "Drifting and Dreaming." Year book awards went to Xi Alpha Omicron, 1st place; Preceptor Iota, 2nd and Xi Chi, 3rd. Scrap winners were Xi Alpha Omicron. 1st; Preceptor Iota, 2nd and Xi Alpha Gamma, 3rd. GIRL OF the year was named by each of the chapters, Ila Nalder, Laureate Epsilon; Jean Van Preceptor Iota; MarCrystal, garet Preceptor Mu; Katie Franke, Xi Alpha Gamma; Betty Shaw, Xi Alpha Omicron, Laura Smith, Xi Chi and Chris Call, Xi THE OPENING ritual was given by Chris Call. The National anthem was led by Kathy Horne as a soloist accompanied by Nola Child. Phi. Kathy Horne sang the prize wanning song, "My Dream accompanied by Nola Child. The new theme for the coming year was announced by the president, "Paint A Living PRES. BONNIE Jo Gessel welcomed members and guests. Special guests were Dora Trowbridge, Bountiful, who is an International Honorary member and has over 35 years as a sorority member: Gretta Sharp, Salt Lake City, who is recipient of the International Distinction Award and a member of 25 years of the Sorority and Norma Preece, Kaysville, local newspaper reporter. The Beta Sigma Phi Grace was given by Gail Hartwig. Following dinner, Laura Smith, Council vice president, gave the welcome to the pledge, followed by Founders Day Pledge by Margaret Crystal, . Masterpiece." THE MESSAGE from International was given by Lynda Swan. Three sorority sisters, Lynda Swan, Suzanne Earley and Barbara Craig were asked to share their dreams for future goals. Gretta Sharp announced the winners of the table decorations and presented the chapter winners PRES. JOE Gessel also announced and introduced the new council officers for the 1984-8year. To serve as council president will be Kathy Robson; Margaret Crystal, vie president; Joyce Thompson, secretary and Katie Franke, treasurer. Friendship was sung by sorority members and led by Kathy Horne. 5 LAUREATE Epsilon Chapter conducted the Silver Circle Ritual. Those honored were Ava Butters, Kathie Franke, Nettie Rist, Kay Heinz, Ruth Campbell, Jean Stan-ge- r and Marlene Bennetts. The Order of the Rose was given by Xi Alpha Gamma Chapter. Those receiving this honor were Renee Larsen, Ann Glaus, Carol Hartog, Grade Webb, Eva Wise- MEET SENATOR man, Laurel Craig. Dr. Ross Poore, left. Layton High School assistant principal, and George Marchant, Woods Cross Elementary School principal, met recently with Utah Senator Orrin Hatch in Washington. D.C., while attending a national drug abuse workshop. The pair were among 70 elementary and secondary school administrators repreFlan-sesenting 40 states and also met with Repres. James Nielson.
