Show DAVIS REFLEX JOURNAL MAY 1, 1985 HMf iJtMMIE SO ART WINNERS LAYTON -- - The annual Central Davis Junior High School Art Show was held last Thursday and Friday in the main hall of the school. Parents had the opportunity to view the student creative work at a special PTA meeting held the evening of Thursday, April 18. ALL STUDENTS at the school were invited to participate by entering an original painting, drawing, leather craft or wood craft. During the lunch period on Thurs- day, students were given the opportunity to vote for their favorite picture. The art was also judged by qualified adults. The top students in leather work were Trevor Waite, 1st; Michelle Waggoner, 2nd; David Sanders, 3rd. Student choice awards went to Clark Blamires, 1st and 2nd; Wendy Blood, 3rd place, dmg Named Young Scientist LAYTON Tami Reynolds, the sical honorable mention; Holli Parr, earth honorable mention. Woman Scientist of the Year for the eighth grade at the regional science fair held recently at Weber State College. 8th GRADE Tami Reynolds, biological trophy: Jeni Carger, biological honorable mention; Gary Griffeth, physical trophy; -- - daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jim Reynolds, was named Young Mindy Hall, physical trophy; Brent Iverson, physical honorable mention; Lara Luce, earth trophy; Kerri Barrett, earth honorable mention. 9th grade. Jedi Biddulph, biological trophy; Wes Nance, THIS IS the second time Tami has participated in the regional science fair. She has been very successful both years. As a 7th grader, Tami received 3rd place honors for oral reporting and first place for her project at the district fair. She got a trophy at regional competition. biological honorable mention; Danny Achter, earth honorable mention; Karen Winter, earth orable mention. Special awards went to Lara Luce, U.S. Army; Jodi Biddulph. 1st place American Society of Microbiology; Traci Dabb, honorable mention certificate from American Meteorological Society; Karen Winter $10 saving account from Ogden 1st Federal Savings and Loan, dmg THIS YEAR, she placed first in the biological division at the school, first in oral reporting and in the project division at the district level and top 8th grade student at Weber State. The title of Tami's project was Temperature Tricks. Her problem centered around the effect temperature and length of incuba- tion has in biochemical oxygen mands. de- TAMI concluded in water there is bacteria which eats the pollutant in the water to clean it. This bacteria needs oxygen. We can tell how much pollutant the bacteria is eating by measuring the oxygen in the water. TEN MEMBERS were present. Myrtle Ward gave the lesson.
