IN UNANIMOUSLY approving the reR-- R-l- -8 zone request, the council members cautioned Mr. Wall that the homes would have to be built in conformance with the Hillside Ordinance. This means test holes would have to be dug on areas that are covered with fill material and core samples would have to be taken to insure the ground would support the weight of a home. Mr. Wall said he was planning on building the homes on the crest of the hill about 47 feet higher than existing homes in Aspen Heights. He said the bottom land would be used for pasture and farming. RESIDENTS will be advised of the date when building plans are presented to the planning commission so they can attend the meeting and discuss their concerns with planning commission members and Mr. Wall. Another step towards the reorganization of administrative and accounting procedures was made Thursday night when the council voted to hire Dennis Knighton, a financial consultant to study and evaluate Laytons financial structure including mancapabilities, agement information, needs, use of good accounting procedures, e and compliance to state law and e planning. THE STUDY will cost $2500. Results will be ready by the next city short-rang- long-rang- council meeting. IN OTHER council action, public hearings were set to consider a rezone request from PB to C for property on the southeast corner of Antelope Drive and Hill Field Road. The hearing will be April 4 at 7:15. Councilman Sam Trujillo opposed setting this public hearing because of action the council took two weeks ago when they denied a beer license for a proposed convenience store that wanted to build across the street from this proposed rezone. THE SAME developers brought a rezone request before the council earlier this year. It was denied based on impact from high school officials and residents of the area. City Manager, Cam Caldwell, suggested that the council refer the matter back to the planning commission. The idea is for the developer to work through the planning commission to decrease the density of the project and make it more compatible with the area. PUBLIC hearing on this rezone request 18 at 7:15 p.m. Councilman Kent Smith recomFinally, mended that the city call in lien waivers in the vicinity of 650 N. Main for curb, guttering and sidewalk. Councilman Smith who has been working with residents of Hill Villa subdivision to solve a traffic congestion problem in the area stated he believed requiring the people to put in curb, guttering and sidewalk would help with the problem of improper parking and blocking the view along streets that feed into Main Street. COUNCILMAN Sam Trujillo said he thought the curb, guttering and sidewalk should be required of all people in the area on both sides of Main Street. The matter will be discussed at the next city council meeting on March 21. dmg A will be held April Rhubarb First Sign OfSpring By LUCILLE STR1NGHAM cup sugar cup water 'A cup shortening V2 cup sugar 1 3A RHUBARB The first sign of spring RHUBARB 1 egg vanilla 'j tsp. sifted flour ICE CREAM cup tsp. baking powder 'A tsp. salt V2 cup milk 1 2 cups cubed rhubarb 34 cup sugar 2 egg yolks, beaten 1 cup cream 1 Tbsp. lemon juice 2 egg whites unbeaten 2 COOK RHUBARB, COMBINE rhubarb with Vi cup sugar. HILL FIELD - Just before the Christmas vacation, students in the third grade class of Mrs. Jolene Petersen at Hill Field Elementary noticed their school was becoming a litter trap. Careless students were forgetting how important it is to dispose of litter properly and to assist their head custodian, Mike Croft in making Hill Field School the top clean school in Davis District. THE THIRD graders decided to become leaders in an campaign. They organized into a Litter Buster Club. For the past several weeks, the students have been working within the school to make other students aware of the problem. They made posters to hang in the halls. They were extra careful not to drop litter. They went out of their way to pick up litter dropped by others. Finally, the students designed Litter Buster A contest was held within the rooms for the best litter logo. The winners were Shaun Ledgerwood, Kathy Carrell, George Gray and Robert Jaques. -- anti-litt- er size by Mrs. THE COREFUL logo was traced to Peterson. Each student brought a shirt from home. Using cardboard for a backing, the 3rd graders traced the logo onto their shirts and then colored it with permanent markers.
