Show WEEKLY REFLEX-D- A NEWS JOURNAL. SEPTEMBER 22, 1977 VIS Abridger, Not An Author with a smile, Actually they were just being nice to me. While at the studio, Mrs. Moon met many singing groups, who were also recording in the studio. They By ROSELYN KIRK A Farmington grandmother, who wrote an abridgement of the Old Testament to make the scriptures more real to her grandchildren and read the stories to them whenever she could catch them, may end up having a captive audience of many thousands of listeners. WHILE IN Fort Lauderdale, Mrs. Moon was in the studio every day for at least 10 hours, while the recording technicians worked on the records. The CMA corg poration, which will distribute the records, decided to begin distribution in the Bible Belt area of the Middle West. At first they considered distribution in Utah where Mrs. Moon could help in the promotion of the d records, but felt the market was too with religious records. The album is set for nationwide distribution and has the okay for international distribution. EMMA TAYLOR MOON, 1422 North Main, Farmington, first heard the complete set of the 12 long playing records that had been made from her abridgement when the owner of the SRA International Recording Studio came from Fort Lauderdale, Florida to make her a presentation of the album entitled "From Eden to Bethlehem. Mrs. Moon emphasized that she is an abridger not an author. In her effort to make the Old Testament more interesting to her grandchildren, she tried to keep the language and cut out the repetition. I cut out a few 100 wars, she said. long-playin- ON THURSDAY, Sept. 3, when Mrs. Scott and Mrs. Anderson came back to Salt Lake City and arrived in Farmington to make the presentation of the record album, Mrs. Moon didnt know the event was being planned. It was a surprise. But she did wear her new long blue dress because she thought she was being invited out for dinner. The presentation was set for the cultural hall in the Seventh Ward of the LDS Church in Farmington. She admitted that she enjoyed being the belle of the ball and had more fun than anyone." THE RECORDS are organized around the voice of one single narrator, with four or five speaking voices that dramatize certain episodes, such as the Jacob-Rach- episode or the Noah segment. Mrs. Moon said she first began the abridgement of the scriptures in modern English, but wasnt satisfied with it. She began again, this time retaining the language of the scriptures in the King James translation. The whole writing effort was in long hand, but her daughter Marlene Bowen, 1428 North Main, Farmington, typed up the work, which resulted in 235 typewritten pages. ,. 16 grandchildren could read the 160 to A singing records, asked Mrs. Moon to allow her abridgement to be cut as a record.
