Show WEEKLY REFLEX-DAV- NEWS JOURNAL, AUGUST 11, 1977 iS in By ROSELYN KIRK The development of plans to construct a road across Farmington Canyon through the Compton Bench area And north to Fruit Heights must remain a problem of the cities involved, Davis County Planning Commission told Harold Tippetts, a member of the Farmington City Council. MR. TIPPETTS said there was tremendous pressure for the development in the Compton Bench area and urged that Davis County Surveyor Glen Ausun engineer a route analysis for an arterial road through the area. The planning commission, determining that the area in question had been annexed by the cities, said the matter was not a county problem. They suggested that Farmington and Fruit Heights, the two cities which would benefit from the construction of the road, hire a private consultant who could run a route analysis and provide an en- vironmental impact statement if that is necessary. MR. TIPPETTS said estimations on the cost of the five to six mile road were between 65 and 16 million. He estimated that the cost of the study to identify the route would be about 10 to 12 percent of the cost of construct- ion. Since the general location of the road has been plotted on the Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT) Ogden Area Transportation Study (OATS), Mr. Tippetts suggested that it would be advantageous to the county to involve themselves in the planning of the road. He argued that, since the construction of the road would have multi community impact, the county should become involved in the project. -- THE development of the Compton Bench area triggered a protest late late year when citizens in the area of Bay View Drive protested the Looks Like STOP BURGLARS Use deadbolt locks as recommended by your police department BOBS LOCK SHOP If there was a battle which doomed Japan more than the rest, it was Midway-t- he 376-466- 4 carrier fleet battle which 1M0T0BIS STRAINER s..: : Odd-coi- 1941 AFTER their successful sneak strike on Pearl Harbor in December of 1941, the Japanese roamed the seas undefeated.
