Others who gathered for the festive time together were Mr. and Mrs. Terry Barber and daughter of Kaysville; Mr. and Mrs. Guy Barber of Salt Lake City; and Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Barber of Syracuse. G. Sherman Bennett recently spent a few days here at the home of his mother, Mrs. Maude Bennett. He made the trip in order that he could sing some solos at a relatives funeral. Elder Bruce Bourgeous, 0. Bourgeous, gave a most interesting report of his son of Mr and Mrs. Ordith recent experiences spent in the Japanese LDS Mission field. This report was at the Syracuse Second Ward Sacrament Meeting. Flying to Japan to spend two weeks touring and visiting the country were his parents. Another happy surprise was w hen the trio arrived back in the Hawaiian Islands, they were met by another son and a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Bourgeous, Brent and Penny The family Bourgeous. members again had a most delightful time together in the islands before returning back to their Utah home. Gregory, Layton, has been assigned to Chanute AFB, Illinois, after completing Air Force basic Marine Private Jesse Carrillo, son of Mr. and Mrs. Jesse Carrillo of 2195 South 1800 West, Syracuse, has completed the infantry combat training course at the Marine Corps Base, Camp Pendleton, Calif. training. DURING THE six weeks at Lackland AFB, Texas, the airman studied the Air Force mission, organization and customs and received special instruction in human relations. Completion of this training earned the individual credits towards an associate k DURING THE course, he received classroom instruction and participated in field exercises involving infantry tactics; the construction and camouflage of fighting positions; and the use of mines, demolitions and six-wee- ;in applied science degree ; through the Community r College of the Air Force. She has been successful in writing an awardwinning essay on slavery and a play on Black history which will be performed this year by the Black Student Union. STUDENTS have been assisting Mr. Rothlisberger this summer to prepare for the beginning of the marching band season. Victoria was recently honored with a luncheon at the Alta Club in Salt Lake City, in recognition of this award under the Anaconda National Companys Achievement Scholarship Program. THOSE who accompanied her at this luncheon and social included her parents, Principal J. Vaun Barber of Layton High School and his wife, Mavis, of Syracuse, vsb traditions will make this year an outstanding one. THE beginning date for all freshmen and new members of the band is Wednesday, Aug. 10 beginning at 6:30 a.m. The freshman drill will be Aug. 10, 11 and 12. All members of the band are to report at 6:30 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 15. They also visited the LDS Temple in St. George. Dr. and Mrs. William Nielson and four children of Antioch, Calif, are visiting with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Walwyn Green and other relatives and friends in the area. Mrs. Julia Webster accompanied her two daughters Mrs. Afton Udall and Mrs. Dorothy Peterson on a trip to Nyssa, Wash, where they visited five days with her other daughter and family, Mr. and Mrs. Merrill Call. They also drove on to Prosser, Wash, to visit with Mr. and Mrs. Stan Smith. Mrs. Beverly Call accompanied them to Washington for the short visit with the Smiths. Mr. and Mrs. Don Edwards accompanied the Special Interest Group from the LDS Church of the region to Cedar City where they attended the fined Shakespearean Festival on Monday and Tuesday. Guests on Sunday of Mr. and Mrs. Emer K. Winward were Mr. and Mrs. Elton Hatch, Burley, Idaho; Mr. and Mrs. Eldon Payne and family, Pocatello, Ida.; Mr. and Mrs. Greg Kerr of Provo; Mr. and Mrs. Jesse Coulam of Kaysville. All were on hand for the Eagle Scout ceremony in which Kent Winward received his Eagle Scout award in the special ceremony Sunday evening at the Kaysville Ninth Ward chapel.
