Free! County WRITTEN proposal, prepared by Chief Deputy Cunningham, had suggested that the county purchase a ehicle ordered for Sheriff Lawrence, but which did not meet color specifications Cost of the car was $5811 The proposal said the car in question could be purchased for John Zippro, administrator of the Civil Defense Emergency Operation, who now drives a 1969 model car with 80,000 miles on it The proposal said that A another For the Next Year Cadillac, might be available to the sheriffs office, either to drive or sell. The vehicle w'as retained by the arresting officer when the owrner was booked on drug charges Sheriff Lawrence said he had been working on getting the car released from the court to the state Hopefully the state would release the vehicle to the county since the arrest w'as made here, he said THE confrontation errupted when Commissioner Moss said the vehicle, if obtained should be sold, not driven by any county personnel. Sheriff Lawrence said his intention w'as to obtain the vehicle first and then determine what to do wuth it He said if the Cadillac was obtained and later sold, he w'ould request that the money be placed m the general fund and then transferred to the Sheriffs budget to meet any overages m that budget.
