GROUNDBREAKING will be in the early fall of this year and the grand opening is scheduled for May of 1979. Layton Hills Mall will be owned and operated by HOM-CInvestment Co, whose principals are David M. Horne, Layton P. Ott and Robert L. and Paul W. Mendenhall, all of Salt Lake City. THE MALL will be of a r design. The architect is Holland and Pasker, Salt Lake City; the design, real estate and financial consultant is C. Ake Orn-daof Nordahl Associates, Inc., New York City, New York; and the general contractor is Home Construction Corp., with headquarters based in Salt Lake City. The shopping mall will be built in two phases. Phase I will contain approximately 400,000 to 460,000 square feet, with Phase II adding an additional 200,000 square feet, making it one of the major malls in the state of Utah. Layton City Council decided its best useage for revenue sharing funds would be to upgrade the citys culinary water system in the northeast area. SO THATS where the $104,088 was earmarked. The three-yea- r project will include construction of a 2- million gallon holding tank, development of a well, and installation of 6 and lines in the area of State Highway 193 (Hill Field Road).
