Mrs. Colleen Gules and Beth Montgomery will go along as chauffeurs and chaperones. Mrs. Merle Belnap entertained her mother, Mrs, Louise Rasmussen as a visitor this past Monday as well as Miss Lillias Tanner from Preston, Idaho. While here they obtained a quantity of apricots and returned to Preston where the fruit was processed at a canning center. Special Interest class members from Second Ward included in their summer activity a hamburger fry this week at the Ogden ranch of Orvil and Hattie Sessions. In charge of eats and fun were Olive Fifield, Donna Smith, and Opal Hadfield. Young people are cautioned by all Mutual officers of the wards to return to their homes promptly after the dismissal of MIA meetings which are held no later than p.m. unless special programs have been arranged which will be called to the attention of parents so that transportation home may be taken care of. Mrs. Ora Brown was elected president of the Special Interest class of the First Ward MIA. A campaign is underway to stir up some new members for this class. The activity night for the First Ward MIA this week was held at the City park, adjacent to the church. Mr. and Mrs. Neil Gailey visited in the canyon last Sunday to find some cooling air, but returned home after finding the heat in the canyons to be worse than their own back yard. Visiting at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Louis Selleneit this past week end was Mrs. Vera Loder, formerly of Bountiful now in Long Beach, Calif. She is a sister of Mrs. Selleneit. Mr. and Mrs. Alvin D. Merle Bolschweiler from the Third ward is the new Camp director in place of Ethel Hodson from the same ward who was recently released. Jay Beech from First Ward was recently released as stake sports director and Marlene Hill was sustained to this position. Other MIA officers changes include the release of Jay and Shirand ley Bennett as Junior Junior Gleaners leaders for the stake who were replaced by Noel and Margaret Larson and the release of Vern and Edna Thurgood as dance directors. Van Gailey is the new leader and Bob Simpson was recently sustained as the new counselor in the stake Young Mens Mutual presidency replacing Eldon Bennett who was released. Susie Page was released from the N. Davis stake Sunday School board last Sunday and Merlin Pearl Brown, Glenna Fowler, Slaughter and William Child sustained to this board. Mrs. Glenna Slaughter has been ill this past week end at her home. Mrs. David Hoskins has been hospitalized this week with ill- M-M- M-M- en en 17, 1051 ness. She has been ill for the past two weeks. MIA girls from First Ward are looking forward to a three day camping trip at the N. Davis stake camp site in Eden. Arrangements are being directed by Colleen Giles. They will leave next Monday and return home on Wednesday. The sixth quorum of Elders have a picnic scheduled for this Saturday July 17 at the chapel grounds. Childrens races and games will start at (5:00 P.M. with prizes for winners. Baseball and horseshoe and the eats and campfire are scheduled for 7:00 p.m. with drinks and watermelons.
