As a now single woman, she is acutely aware of what that whole scene can be like loneliness, needing help with home repairs, etc., wanting a man who treats her with respect. Theres a lot more to her dream one she is determined to make into a reality: children and youth could come there after school, get help with homework, play games, etc in a safe, supervised environment. Men would even be welcome, as long as they understood rules that include treating women with respect, and not coming there with the intent to hit on a woman. CANNELL Clipper Today Correspondent CLINTON City officials approv ed the purchase of land for two new parks in Clinton City during a recent closed meeting. The first proposed park, located at 1000 W 1300 N., will contain 5.2 acres and is being purchased from a piece of ground near a developing subdivision of 102 homes. The city plans to turn it into a pristine park which could mean some small boweries and trees, according to 40-ac- re City Executive Secretary Jeaneil Jackson. A second proposed park being purchased is adjacent to the Sara Jane Plantation development, 1800 N. 3450 W, and will be approximately 5.26 acres. Jackson said the city's intention there is to create a park as well as a retention basin as part of its current master plan. Funds for purchasing the properties comes from impact fees. You have to get property w'hen it's available?' Jackson said. It will be some time before improvements on these parks can be done? Development has just started on the Powerline Park, southeast of park property west of the city offices on 2000 W and property near West Clinton Elementary. With the development of ' these two parks and the others, the city hopes to make park land accessible within one-hamile of every residence in the city. In other business, the city council accepted a proposal drawn up by Council member Merlin Mitchell to create a walking path alongside the canal near 2050 N. from 2000 W to 3000 W During its regular council meeting last week, Mitchell presented drawwide path that winds ings for a every 200 feet. He also included recommendations for a bench, trees, a railroad tie planter box and specified areas for walkers, rollerbladers, bicyclists and skateboarders.
