Show CUPPER Friday, September 3, 1993 Sano's Italian Kitchen to open Sept. BOUNTIFUL When Giuseppe Ferraioli imigrated to this country from Naples, Italy in the 1920's, he could never have dreamed the legacy he would leave for his family. Additionally, when Bountiful resident Frank Sano left his hometown of Brooklyn, New York almost 20 years ago he probably never imagined he would be a part of the Ferraioli legacy. Actually the legacy stems from Frank's grandmother, who came to America with Giuseppe all those many years ago. Frank and his wife Beth will open "Sano's Italian Kitchen Sept. 3, as the newest addition to the 5 Points Mall food court and the beginning of a family legacy. "For the most part, all the recipes we have are my grandmothers," said Sano. When asked what his secret for great food was, he said, "We don't go much by measuring cups. It has to look right, feel right and taste right." Frank should know what makes food right, since he's been cooking the same recipes since he was a teenager in high school, although not professionally. Frank has been working for IBM since he graduated from BYU 14 years ago. Working for IBM took he and his family from Provo, where he met Beth, to Washington, D.C. to Mobile, Alabama and then back to Utah again. Recently IBM wanted to move Frank, Beth and family again, but, as Frank said, "This is home now, and since Utah is Beth's home we opted to stay. We really enjoy the community atmosphere in Bountiful, and its lifestyle, it just fits us so well. Our kids really like the schools and their friends, which was a big factor in determining not to leave," he said. Although its a long way from Brooklyn to Bountiful, two things that seem to have stayed close to the Sano's hearts are Italian food and the ability to guide their life. According to Frank, he can do both at Sano's. "The goal of Sano's is to make a living doing something I'm good at, and having fun too." Frank also sees Sanos as an opportunity to teach his children the value of earning what you have. Frank believes that Sano's will give he and his family the opportunity to accomplish these 17 3 few goals. Some may ask, if he wants to succeed in his business, why choose Bountiful? "Because this is our home, we want to live, work and do everything here. Beth has always had a lot of faith for the 5 Points Mall and we thought this would be a good place to start. Since people know us in Bountiful we feel that will help us." According to 5 Points Mall director, Russ Ivory, "Sano's will be a great addition to the renovating mall. They will also bring a new flavor and value to the consumers in our area." According to Beth Sano, "Friends keep asking us when we're going to open for business." She explains how excited and anxious they are for their opening day and the opportunity ahead of them. "We want to turn our family into a unit of production and not just a unit of consumption," a pretty likely happening considering the business will be run by immediate family members only. Mama and Papa Ferraioli will be honored and proud. Bountiful residents will be full and content. After seven years in Bountiful Frank and Beth Sano now consider this home. With the opening of Sano's Italian Kitchen at Five Points Mall their roots are setting into this south Davis County community.
