Show West Bountiful 1 By ALICE MITCHELL 295-115 The hours during the past week were filled with many experiences and activities. Even the extra hour made possible by the change from Daylight Savings Time to Standard Time was used well. Kenneth and Wesley Johnson John-son spent time enlarging their greenhouse. They hope to include poinsettias in the items for sale. The Lynn Johnsons look back with pleasure to their week vacation to Mesa Verde National Park this summer. They visited Silverton, Colo., which had been the home of grandparents. A week ago Wesley and John Jonson celebrated their birthdays. The whole family is looking forward to celebrating grandma grand-ma and grandpa Jedda and Kenneth Harts' golden wedding wed-ding anniversary. The Mark Mannings are excitedly taking care of their new baby girl. They live in North Salt Lake, but were former West Bountifulites. Jean and Ray Manning live in Bountiful and are enjoying the feeling of not having to care for a large lot. The Third Ward celebrated their Halloween Party on the 31st. The youth of the ward went on a hayride and enjoyed a dance. Directing the party were Kris Haslam and Pat Beagley. The Eugene Kremers went fishing a week ago Saturday instead of going hunting. They found good catches at East Canyon. David Kremer and his Indian brother, Arnold Ar-nold Murphy, enjoyed all of the fun. Arnold is from Arizona and has been with the Kremers for two years. Lloyd Hogan, third grade teacher at Washington Elementary School, has had a great deal of fun helping his charges with all sorts of tricks and treats for Halloween. Paul Lurk is happy to report that he has a new position at the firm of Ford, Bacon and Davis in Salt Lake City. He will be the project manager of a water treatment plant which the company is constructing. Before settling down to the new job, Paul, his wife and their children went to California to show the baby off and to let everyone get better . acquainted with frjends and relatives. JRalph and. Sharon Lees are ; proud and happy to have their ', new baby boy born a week ' ago. He joins aiv oldeiv-j brother. Diane Smith and Karen Hess were among the mothers of the Meadowbrook Elementary Elemen-tary PTA, who assisted with the Halloween Fair. The girls of the AP MIA of the First ward had a special experience in the Standards' Night held Oct. 18. They had wanted to have the program at the Lion House, but had no money. Under the direction of Laurel Leader Harriet Stephens and with the help of the other leaders, they set out to earn the needed funds. They cooked breakfast for the Seminary Senior Trek over the pioneer trail. This did not bring them enough money, so Harriet had the group make pizzas out in her yard. These were sold to the ward and the fund was then sufficient. The evening was great. Many of the girls had never been to the Lion House and some were amazed with the number of knives and forks and spoons they were to use in eating the delicious dinner. Laurel President Virginia Hubbs conducted. She and Jenny Bown, accompanied by Cheri Mains presented a musical number. Guest speaker Betty Child, thrilled the girls with her testimony and sweet spirit. She played a piano solo of "He" and told the girls of her life and the handicaps she had to overcome. over-come. A violin solo was rendered ren-dered by Virginia Hubbs. The girls and leaders were presented with pearl necklaces as a reminder of the theme, "A Pearl of a Girl." Harriet and Earl Stephens report that a good crowd is attending the class on the history of the constitution, taught by Cleon Skousen, and he'.u at the Viewmonf TTiglT School each Tuesday night. Everyone is invited to attend the classes. Members of the First Ward are looking forward to Nov. 3rd and their Ward Fair. Don Curtis is in charge of the fall affair and many people will make and donate items to be sold. The Ron Garners are happy to report that their dad has finished his job in Pueblo, Calif, and in Gillette, Wyo. Things haven't been the same with dad not around. They report that daughter, Cary and husband Greg Packer, together with baby Penny, are living in a trailer at Orangeville (thirty miles from Price). Greg is employed in the coal mines. Cary and Penny visited with the Garners over the past weekend. The Tony Hugoes have had a great time entertaining Susan Hutt, a cousin, from England. Susan is a high school student and will be staying until December. Olivia Smith, wife of Leland Smith, underwent surgery last Friday. She has been hospitalized for several i wtei,sHeiid;ittghI',-Mari(jo,-.: is coming up from California to stay with her parents. The Child family hosted a shower and luncheon Saturday Satur-day afternoon for their future daughter-in-law, Dawn Dailey. She and their son Robert are planning a wedding wed-ding in the near future. Robert and Dawn are building a home in Charnelle Subdivision, Sub-division, as are Bonnie Child and her husband Scott Jus-tinson. Jus-tinson. The week was made more eventful and exciting with the Seminary Chase (not scriptures scrip-tures this time, but boys). After catching their dates all over town and in many strange places, the boys and girls enjoyed a ride and Sundae Sun-dae party down at Mitchells' barn at the bottom of 4th North. The Dan Mitchells, the James Robert Smiths and the Dan Taylors had fun at the birthday party for their cousin Frank Hayward held at American Fork. He and his fellow students were really excited to have a visit from the Star Wars characters. Byron and Bell Ranck were among the many who attended attend-ed the farewell Sacrament Meeting held for their grandson grand-son Blake Alder who is leaving leav-ing soon for the New York New York Mission. Gina Mitchell and Mike Lee were among the band students of Viewmont High School who participated in the Band Meet at Payson High last Thursday night. The David Monsons had another party this week. Jed-da's Jed-da's brother, Charles Mercer was up from Cima Valley, Calif, and William Mercer, another brother came down from Menan, Idaho; while her brother Julian Mercer came from Lehi and Jedda's mother from Salt Lake City. The crowd also included the married children of the David Monsons and their new babies. Ben and Denise Olsen Ar-gyle Ar-gyle are excited over the arrival of their baby boy, Tyler Brent Argyle. The new baby was born on Doug's birthday and the wedding anniversary an-niversary of Doug and Thayle. The Mary Landon Swimming Swim-ming School presented swimming swim-ming awards at the Friday night session. Congratulations to Bob and Caroline Whittingten on their baby girl who was born during dur-ing the week. She joins a brother. Her grandparents, the Tony Hugoes, are happy over the latest arrival, as are great-grandparents, the Harold Hugoes.
