Her entire palm was eaten with tins disease until (he cords of her hand were left bare. This made it very painful to do such work as the family washing which was done with strong homemade soap. In spite of her handicap, she kept her pine floor and homemade furniture polished by scouring them with sand. She made her own brooms. She milked several cows. In doing all ol these tasks, she could use only her thumb and finger tips. When her hands healed, the cords drew her lingers into the palm.
