Scientific research has proven regular volunteering, more than any other activity, prolongs life expectancy and improves our physical and psychological well being Research also indicates doing good tor others is beneficial to our immune systems, protecting us Irom infections and disease So, its no surprise the age group provides most of the volunteers in America today, where because of budget cuts and a changing work force, more volunteers than ever before are needed. They volunteer for a variety of unselfish reasons the fact that it makes them healthier and happier is just a 50-pl- bonus Its also not surprising the American Association for Retired Persons (AARP), the nations largest organization for people over 50 with 33 million members, offers a healthy number of feel good opportunities for volunteers About 400 of AARPs volunteer positions are found in Utah And, as AARP strives to become a dynamic presence in every community, more volunteers are being sought here.
