The miner creates the real wealth, patronizes all other establishments; he produces nothing that he can consume; he affords the best markets for the products of others; the amount of his purchases depends upon the amount of mineral development In ills section. His mine sets In motion and sustains all other Industries. As a promoter of railroad traflic, as a sustainer of farm and steel Industries, as a creator of ull new Industries, as a customer of factories of all kinds, the miner is the best puril FOR TREATMENT OF ORES. Dom Not Require Coetly Machinery and la Simple and Economical. American Metal Extraction The corporation company, a Salt Lake ownln the Laiet proceia of treating 100-to- n plant at the 0Ia, will erect a & Milling company' Mining Eureka property. Eureka, Ore, by a Denver firm which secured the contract, says the Herald. In addition, negotiations are now pending and some of them practically closed for the erection of the aggregate Initial other plants, will be about 2,500 which of capacity The largest of these tons per day. la going into Alaska, one Into Idaho and another into the southern portion of this state. "There la nothing particularly mysterious about our process," said Manager La 1st, "nor is there anything complicated or costly In the machinery necessary to operate It is the acme of about Everything it simplicity itself. We claim and are prepared to demonstrate that our process will handle a 5 per cent copper ore and reduce the product to blister copper at a cost of 2ft cents per pound, while at the slightest fraction of additional cost practically all of the gold and silver that may be contained In the ores can also be recovered and made a constituent part of the bullion. "Briefly stated, our process consists of leaching the copper from the ore by the old and homely sulphuric acid bath. The metal Is then precipitated out of that solution by the Introduction of hydrogen sulphide gas, the product and appearing as a copper sulphide, which Is reduced to blister copper by the ordinary methods. "The feature of our process Is the manufacture and application of the gaa used as a precipitant and its small cost as compared with results In the taring and recovery of the metal. The precipitant Is made from gypsum, which Is reduced with coal to a calcium sulphide. This Is mixed with water and treated with carbon dioxide (furnace gases). The combination results In the formation of calcium carbonate and hydrogen sulphide, which precipitates the copper. By the addition of other inexpensive and simple agents the gold and silver that may be In the ore Is precipitated at the same time. All oxidised and carbonate ores are susceptible to the treatment, as are also sulphide ores after roasting." The success of the process Is to be found in the fact that It Is calculated to make bullion at a tithe of the cost of the ordinary methods employed in melting, because the mine owner can put in his own reduction works at modest cost and thus be Independent of custom ore market. and equipment Self-intere- st NOW THE FARMERS ORGANIZE A gigantic 111., Dec. 1. of of formers the entire organisation United States and Canada, to be formed under the name of the American Society of Equity, is the object aimed at by a large number of delegates in attendance on a conference begun In Chicago today. Whatever helps the miner helps all. Whatever retards the mining industry injures to some extent the welfare of the country. The miner is not like the banker, the railroad promoter and the trust organiser, who is always asking for legislation to protect and foster trusts to destroy competition. Were it not for the miner nearly all of the Pacific coast would still be a wilderness. When the miner has money to spend, everybody in his community is prosperous. The miner is the pioneer and parent of all industries. The .precious metal miner helps all and injures none.
