Show EARL'S'TIMES - JULY 1994- 3 AFTER THE FIRE, continued from Page 1 * Jim has been working to keep Matrimony Spring available to the public since he came to Moab. He is doing this voluntarily; it is not in his job description. Jim refers to Matrimony Springs as “an orphan I adopted to quickly analyze where your path is going. such as between those clumps of trees. Use natural breaks: roads, driveways, washes, cliffs. The wind is a when I came to Moab.” Given the number of CV folks who major factor in analyzing and attacking benefit from having the spring availa fire. Always be aware of what it is able, I asked Jim if there were ways we doing. Many of Fire Safety Seminar, you who don’t live here have probably heard that we’ve had record breaking heat during the end of June and beginning of July. Here in the Valley temperatures soared to at least 113°. Fortunately there was evening cooling on most nights, though even these remained in the 808. On July 7th we welcomed a strong cooling wind that plummeted night time temperatures down to the 60s and daytime temps to the 803. Lovely but short lived, as temps are climbing again into the low hundreds. Our drought-like conditions have continued, with only two lightening storms that spit barely enough rain to intensify the smell of dry cheat grass. This hot dry windy weather coupled with lightning storms has left us extremely vulnerable to fire danger. ——Joan Sangree Saturday, July 23rd, 9 to 11 a.m., at the Firehouse. Bring your questions. PLAN TO A'ITEND. We still have a long, hot, dry summer ahead of us. Matrimony Springs Update Matrimony Spring has recently required some temporary chlorination because of leaks in the seals of one of the doors protecting the spring. Repairs are being made by Jim Adarnson of the County Health Department, and it is hoped the chlorination will be unnecessary after new water samples are analyzed. 9 OUT OF 10 RESIDENTS OF CASTLE VALLEY HAVE A DRINKING PROBLEM! But drinking is not the only problem. We have to bathe, shower, and wash clothes in it too. Our company manufactures a whole-house water purificaion system, custom-designed for each application. This system softens and removes organic contaminants without the use of sodium or carbon. Our system removes all lead and heavy metals.
