Show RECOVERY TIMES - MAY 15, 1995 - 7 LETTERS TO THE TIMES May 13, 1995 I have lived in Castle Valley only since January 1994 and have tried to become informed on community issues and concerns by attending meetings and talking with my neighbors. I just want to say that the letters I received from Bart and Theresa Carey do not represent me or my opinions. I seriously question the allegations in these letters which seem to employ scare tactics, personal attacks and misleading, inaccurate and incomplete statements toward some goal or purpose I cannot understand or identify. . The tone of the Carey letters is appalling to me. We are not governed here by anonymous strangers but by our neighbors and friends whom we voted into office. The POA Board and Town Council members are just people like me, but who, unlike me, are unselfishly giving their time and efforts for my benefit. They deserve to be treated with common courtesy and respect. I think what we need here in the valley is to talk to our elected representatives without threatening to sue them. If our legal expenses are going up it is in defense of threats of lawsuits against Town and POA representatives and not vice versa. Paulette Grace 5/13/95 I am one of those people that rarely speaks out unless I have something to complain about. If events move along without incurring my outrage I usually stay silent and go about my busy life. This has been my pattern as a member of the Castle valley community for the last seven years. I have always considered myself a good citizen; I stay informed of the issues, and I vote in every election. However, I am concerned that perhaps that is not enough. I do not attend the regular POA and Town meetings because of my work and personal commitments. But I do not wish my lack of attendance to be construed as apathy. While I do not always agree with every decision or action taken by the POA Board and Town Council, I support the direction they are taking in governing our community. I applaud the time and effort they put into serving Castle Valley, especially given the extreme amount of harassment that these individuals have incurred in the last year. The recent election results showed that the majority of the community supports the continuation of the Town. I hope that any further attempts to change the direction of the DONATIONS APPRECIATED: Donations from the Rybkas, Steinbauers, and Kingsleys are much appreciated. All donations are used exclusively for printing costs. Donations and ad revenue make the free issues possible at the front gate. Subscriptions just cover the cost of printing and mailing. Subscriptions are encouraged, as the issues placed at the front gate are quickly taken. CASTLE VALLEY TIMES community will be done through constructive rather than disruptive activities. I believe that the regular elections held in November should be the appropriate vehicle for change rather than attempting to interrupt the business at hand. Sincerely, Lisa Katz ADVENTURES FOR KIDS The CPI GeoWhiz kids programs will be available again this summer. Canoeing, hiking, rafting, bouldering for kids age 12—15.
