In a discussion of financial aspects of annexation, council members firmly reiterated their previous position that all developers of annexed property must bear the total expense for the installation of utilities. National Guard Support Week Slated For Feb. 1824 The Utah National Guard is focusing its attention and that ofthe cities and towns throughout the state on its community support role as it looks toward Community Support Week, February 18 - 24. The Community Support to Major General Maurice L. Perhaps one of the most significant contributions made by the Guard in recent years has been the construction and improvement of recreation access roads in the states scenic areas as special training projects for the Utah National Guard's Combat Engineer Group. In 1972. the Guard Engineer units improved and repaired as well as replaced roads, bridges, dams, water lines and buildings in the East Fork of the Bear River Boy Scout Camp. In addition, the Beehive Guardsmen con- structed 27 miles of road in the area of Provo Canyon and Hobble Creek. There were some 12 miles of road constructed in the Ute Indian Reservation north of Duchesne. There have also been improvements and road construction in Corner Canyon and Pig Hollow in Salt Lake and Smithfield Mayor Oral Ballam signs prodaimation designating Feb. 18 through 24 as National Guard Community Support Week. In addition to these contributions to the State and communities, Guardsmen have also been involved in the Bantam Basketball Program, the Annual Fourth of July Cavalcade at Derks Field, the Bantam Basketball Benefit for the Easter Seal Society, the Armed Forces Day Observance in May and the Veterans Day Concert each year in November. |
