Great-grandparen- ts DINNER LOGS cup bread crumbs 34 cup milk roast or stew meat 2 to 234 cups ground left-ov' 13 cup grated onion 1 medium size cooked potato (chopped) 1 tsp. Worcestershire sauce 2 Tbsp. chili sauce Salt and pepper to taste Soak bread crumbs in milk. Add meat (ground), onion, potato, and seasonings. Mix well; divide into eight parts; shape into rolls 3 inches long and place in greased baking pan. Bake in moderately hot oven (400 degrees) for 20 minutes or until brown. Serve with gravy, white sauce, or tomato sauce. 4 er BAKED CHICKEN AND RICE pieces chicken cup uncooked rice or 2 cups Minute rice 2 cans cream of chicken or cream of mushroom soup 2 soup cans regular milk 1 envelope dry onion soup mix Grease casserole or 9 x 13 inch pan. Put rice in bottom and cover with one can of soup and 1 can of milk (mixed). Sprinkle 23 of envelope onion soup on top. Place seasoned uncooked chicken pieces on rice. Cover with remaining soup and milk and sprinkle with the 13 envelope onion soup. Bake 2 hours at 325 degrees. This is an easy dish and cooks while you are at church. Can also be baked at 275 degrees for 234 hours if needed. 8 to 10 1 WILTED LETTUCE SALAD medium head lettuce (loose green leaves) or green onions 1 small cucumber, sliced (optional) V cup sugar 34 tsp. salt 3k tsp. pepper 2 Tbsp. Wesson Oil 2 to 3 Tbsp. vinegar Mix all ingredients and toss until sugar is dissolved and lettuce is covered. 1 2 Tbsp. diced onion SWEET AND SOUR CABBAGE medium size red cabbage 6 strips bacon, diced small and fried until crisp 13 cup sugar 3k tsp. pepper Vinegar to turn cabbage bright color (about 3 Tbsp.) Boil shredded cabbage in salted water barely covering the cabbage. Boil about 7 or 8 minutes. Cabbage should be tender but firm. Drain and add sugar, pepper and a little more salt. Add bacon and drippings. Add vinegar and toss lightly. Let stand covered for about 10 minutes before serving. Serves 8 1 to 10. BISMARKS 2 3k 3k packages dry yeast cup milk, scalded cup warm water 13 cup shortening 13 cup sugar tsp. salt 33k to 4 cups sifted flour 2 eggs Soften dry yeast in warm water. Combine milk, shortening, sugar, and salt; cool to lukewarm. Add 1 cup of flour; beat well. Beat in softened yeast and eggs. Add enough of remaining flour to make a moderately soft dough; mix well. Place in greased bowl; turn to grease surface. Cover and let rise. When raised once, roll out 13 inch thick and cut into 5x2 inch strips. Let rise again as you would doughnuts. Fry in hot oil and drain. When cool, slice through and fill with 7 minute frosting and black cap or black raspberry Jam.
