Safety Units Arrive At Lakes Boating Safety Detachments (BOSDET) operated by the US Coast Guard began opperation Saturday on Bear Lake and Flaming Gorge and will continue operation until Sept. 4. Boatswains Mate First Class Allen B. Coombes will head the Flaming Gorge detachment assisted by Coast Guard reservists from the Salt Lake City area. The Bear Lake detachment will be completely run by active duty Salt Lake City Coast Guard reservists. The detachment will conduct safety patrols and check boats to insure they meet the federal safety equipment reauirements such as: personal flotation devices, fire extinguishers, flame ventilation, back-fir- e arrestors and other required safety equipment.
