Ping-pong- s Jan. 21, 1955 First Season Game to Lehi Trying to rack up their first win of the scheduled season games, the Wildcats lost to Lehi in the BYU Fieldhouse on Jau. 7. In the first quarter of play the B. Y. Wildcats held the Lehi pioneers by only one point, the score being 10 for B. Y. and nine the Pioneers. In the second quarter the same thing happened again with the Wildcats only one point ahead, for B. Y. 20 and Lehi 19. When the second half started it seems that the basket was just too far away for the Wildcats and the Lehi basket was too close to suit B. Y. Y. would definitely be the victors of this game, for at the end of the quarter the Wildcats had racked up 14 points to eight' points for the Tigers. The sparkplug for the Y team was Dave Weight who made 12 points during the game. At the start of the second quarter, Lincoln started to step on the gas. At the end of the first half Lincoln was ahead 28-2In the second half the Tigers really left the Wildcats in their dust. Because when the third quarter ended 4he Tigers had made 23 points to the Wildcats 8. The Tigers were really hot, for in the last quarter Lincoln made 18 points to win by a score of 63 to 35. Those scoring for B. Y. were Weight 12 points, Wiscombe 6. Russell 5, Allen 4, and Elliot 2. High scoremen for Lincoln were Jan Peterson 16 points, Chad Moon and Evan Harding both with 11 points. 63-3- Storms Wrestling Team Seasonal Cheer Ski Club Season Begins blessed event appeared out of the blue for the Ski Club A B. Y. Highs wrestling squad is active first season. The new varsity now in the middle of a very sport is being coached by Mr. Grant Bushman, football coach, with the assistance of Ivan Muse, a student teacher. The team includes two seniors, Dale Despain and Toney Bentley, six juniors, Verl Shell, Rod Despain, Rod Kimball, Jaque Meil-ing- , Ronald Norton, and Kent Chamberlain, and one each in the sophomore and ninth grade who are Tom Han and Jerald Cox, respectively. The team has wrestled three matches this year, including a match last Saturday with Millard. The schedule for the remainder of the season, as announced by Coach Bushman is as follows: Jan. 21, Provo High There. Jan. 24. Lehi There Jan. 27, Lehi -- Here Feb. 2, Millard There Feb. 11, Region meet. it snowed! The club wasted no time in taking advantage of the Winter Wonderland. They took a number of trips to Timp Haven and other snow playgrounds. Joan Peterson, president, with assistance of other club officers and members has kept the club on the ball and seen to it that their parties and instructional activities were successful Currently the Ski Club is planning the Snow Carnival for the st udentbody. It vvas set for an activity of Pep Week, but had to be postponed for about one uoyk -It will be held next week The Snow Carnival has alwavs been an outstanding activity of B. Y. High Buses will take the student to Timp Haven where there will be skiing, tobogganing, and other winter sports, games and eats for all. It's going to be great and its sponsored bv Y Highs Ski Club. Garys Gabb $ During the Christmas season B. Y. High team played six preseason games of which they won four. Two of which they had trouble with were the ones with Wasatch and Granite. The score for Wasatch was 46 and for B. Y. 29. Granite came out ahead with a . score of For two of these games the team had to travel down to Mt Pleasant and to Moroni. When the team played North Sanpete the score came out in favor of B. Y The next night when B. Y. played Moroni the cheering section for Mt. Pleasant the before was out to cheer for night B.
