Show 1 A 11 nil way Sprinkler I The opening of the new Inter-TJrban I line, between St. Paul and Minneapo- j i lis, has discovered the fact that out-1 out-1 side the cities and while traversing i some six miles or more of tne distance ; which is beyond the pale of the water mains, on curtain favorable days the dust is found to be a no small and decidedly de-cidedly unpleasant feature of an otherwise other-wise delightful ride. To remedy this evil there is almost finished at the shops of the .M inm apolis City Railway a giant tank made of one-eighth inch boiler iron, and mounted on a flat car carried on four 3ii-inch wheels. A piece of four-inch steam pipe capped at each end, and suitably perforated with small drill holes, rests across the rear platform. The connecting pipes, of the same diameter as the cross pipe, connect it with the tanlt and insure a bountiful supply of water. It is intended in-tended to draw the tanlt car behind a motor car, and by malting a trip every two hours, the entire length of the line will be sprinkled in a round trip of eighty minutes. |
