Show box ildia l ?U Jfourn a ( EditotuJU -- Brigham City. Utah Wednesday. March A Semi-Weekl- TH1NX 10, 1948 Newspaper Successor to y THE BOX ELDER NEWS (Established 1396) and THE BOX ELDER JOURNAL (Established 1909) William M. Long, Editor Charles W. Claybaugh, Business Manager Mrs. Gladys H. Johnson, Advertising Manager Where Democracy Is YOU! This evening the Democrats are holding their precinct, or district, meetings throughout the county, and Friday night the Republicans will hold their precinct nieetings. In the past, apparently, no one but the very most faithful of the most faithful a precinct has ever bothered to attend meeting. They havent amounted to much, and unless a person really enjoyed his politics to the hilt or was bucking for a wardheeling job, he wasnt likely to attend. But this year, the precinc meetings are important. For it is in the precinct meetings that the representatives will be named who will attend the county convention, and in turn will elect the delegates to the state convention. Very likely the county organization meeting delegates will be the county nominating convention delegates, and this year the county nominating conventions will be, as the phrase goes, a thing. This year instead of the first primary election, the county nominating convention will be held. The nominating convention will come up with two candidates for each county elective office, and then the partys voters, in the September primary, will have their choice only of these two competitors for the candidacy, within the party. In other words, those precinct conventions could be said to just about tell the tale of who will be your partys candidate for each county office, come next autumn. They actually are the meetings that take the place of the old first primary, for at the precinct meetings the voting personnel of the county nominating conventions will be named. So if youre interested in general elections, now is the time to show that interest onthe precinct level. Thats where your voice really can be heard, your vote really will be felt, thats where Democracy is YOU! bj NEW LOOKI Phoenix, Arix. March 2. Thanks for sending me the paper this winter.
