Show C B OLSEN DIESA friday night at a few minutes past 12 the spirit of C B olsen was called home after a brief illness of nixie nine days during which time he suffered buffered very much mr air olsen was first attacked with bleur pleurisy Is y a C complaint om with which he was troubled for many years and then pneumonia took him it its deadly grip fastening itself more perniciously upon him as aa each day wore on until it claimed his life in the passing of mr olsen another familiar figure of this city is called hence for many years lie he was prominent as a painter and paper hanger which occupation lie he f followed 0 1 10 w e d in early days being one of tile the Ilo pioneers in that profession ot of this city of 0 late years ile he has devoted his energies to farming and fruit raising carl bernhart Dern hart olsen was avas born may 3 J 1842 in norway at the age of 16 years lie he heard and embraced the gospel of jesus christ of 0 latter day saints and seven years later was called as a local missionary to prevent him from being drafted into the army he was amt to denmark and lie he labored in jylland around aalborg and through gl if that section as far south as fredericia Frede icia ricia being actively engaged in this work tor for two years while on this mission mr olsen made the acquaintance ot of jens C gasberg of this city the two having been fast friends ever since mr air olsen emle rated tn alris ham city in the year 1867 where h he e has since resided in 1887 he was again called upon a mission to the fatherland and labored for two years in ia bergen Trond bJern and Jr drammen Dr ammen norway at home he was active in church work 0 1 k a and n d was a well informed man on the principles prini ples which he be espoused being of 0 a very studious natu nature e he also served a term as city councilman being elected to that office by his fellow citizens of this city of 0 late ears he has been an active worker in ill the scandinavian organization and has been a member of that choir almost from its inception lie he was also a member of the tabernacle choir in early days deceased was preceded to the spirit world by a wife and four children ahil alren lie he leaves behind a wife seven child rn reb id 10 grand children and a host of friends to mourn his departure funeral services were held in the third ward sunday af at the jue hall hail decorated with a W wealth of flowers and the casket was laden with floral emblems bishop stohl presided over the services i the speakers were bishop stohl S N lee J C gasberg garters peter H sorensen R L fishburn sr nels madsen adolph madsen and pres oleen N stohl all bore testimony test mony to the noble qualities ot of deceased and each speaker paid a high tribute to hia honesty and love for the gospel the choir rendered ren derel the hymns what voice salutes the startled ear resting now from care and sorrow though trials etc and daisy madsen sang not half has ever been told the choir singing in the chorus an especially sad feature of the passing away ot of mr olsen was the tha accident to his son carlos who was brought honie home just a lay day before his father died suffering with a broken leg the young man is getting along nicely however the sym sympathy patny of this anole community muni ty goes out to the bereaved family and we join in praying that god will lend his holy spirit to bind up their broken hearts |
