Green River Cantaloupes That Green River cantaloupes are the finest flavored in the entire United States is an accepted fact, and in view of this situation the Green River farmers have organized the Green River Farmers Cooperative as a means of getting more of their product on eastern markets. The newly formed cooperative has signed contracts to ship 100 cars of this luscious fruit. Half of the acreage farmed by cooperative members is in Grand county and the remainder in Emery. The marketing of cantaloupes on a large scale in the Green River area was pioneered by the Wilson family, who in past years have shipped many carloads to eastern markets of only the finest selected fruit.
