Show LARS F JOHNSON DIED SUDDENLY bishop lars F johnson an early pioneer and prominent resident ot of bear river city died at his bis home there wednesday night at 1130 0 clock of heart lailure failure he was stricken suddenly having gone to bed apparently parent ly in his hia usual good health shortly before his wife heard him groaning and thinking he was dreaming went to hla his bedside and took hold of him with the view of wakening wake nine him bim up she was horror stricken to find him breathing his last lars F johnson was born november 21 1858 at fredericksburg Fredericks borg denmark he emigrated to utah with his parents when a boy of 0 nine years arriving in bear river city in the th summer bummer of of 1868 he grew to young manhood in bear river city and spent most of his early life as a cowboy working tor for george montgomery of corinne Corl and james faust one of the early cattlemen of the state ette for a number of years he was also foreman of the promontory stock company mr air johnson was a member ot of the L D S church and very active in church work during the greater part of his lire life in 1891 he left for a mission to denmark and while there served as president ot of the aalborg conference and returned in 1893 following the death ot of the late bishop carl jensen mr johnson was chosen as bishop ot of the bear river ward and set apart on the day ot of january 1900 he acted in the capacity of bishop until march 1915 about live five years ago he was chosen as coun isedor by bishop C C johnson dishop bishop lars F johnson was dearly loved by the people 0 of hear dear river city due to his untiring efforts in their behalf and in the building up ot of that community of which the amusement hall and the city culinary water system are the fruits of some of hi his labors his life was spent in service to his fellow citizens and his time and means were always at altheir their disposal the little town is bowed in grief erlet possibly as they have never before been tor for one single individual mr johnson served two terms as county commissioner of box elder county and was active in the civic affairs ot of the community surviving are the widow mrs airs johanna johnson and the following sons and daughters edward L johnson and vernal johnson of san francisco norman al alvin and larue johnson of Ti durley urley idaho lorenzo john joan son mrs airs edna bywater and miss erma johnson of dear bear river city also five grand children funeral services will be held monday afternoon at I 1 at the bear river ward chapel under the direction of bishop C C johnson interment will be in the bear river cemetery |
