Police Say Theft Bing Involved in Brigham City police believe they may have broken a stolen vehicle ring extending across the western United States with the arrest here Saturday of one man and apprehension in Salt Lake City by the FBI of a second person. Taken into custody after he reportedly attempted to sell a stolen vehicle to a local auto dealer was Keith Stacy Allen, 20, 11947 Greenville, Dallas, Texas. He was arraigned in city court Monday before Judge Robert Daines on a charge of grand larceny. The court set preliminary hearing in the case for Aug. 4 at I p.m. and set bail at cash or $20,000 property bond. Allen is currently confined in the Box Elder County jail. Arrested in Salt Lake City was Marvin W. Seabright, 38, Dallas, who was wanted on two complaints out of Denver, Colo. $10,000 Appeared on Charges He appeared before a U.S. commissioner Monday on charges of stolen car and interstate transportation of stolen property. Bail was set at $15,000 on each charge and Seabright is being held in Salt Lake Couty jail. He and his wife, the former Marilyn Steffen, are parents of two children and reside at 232 North Fifth West in Brigham City. There are few commercial accommodations in the long valley, located about 100 miles west of Brigham City via Snowville and State Route 70. Schedule of Events The schedule of activities includes the following: , Set Saturday Pioneer Day Celebration The stage is set at Bear River City for the communitys annual July 24 celebration Friday. A full day of activities at the town park is expected to attract not only townspeople but visitors from various other parts of Box Elder county as well. It is one of the longest continuing community celebrations in the area. A junior rodeo is on tap at 4 p.m. with boxing and wrestling scheduled at 7:30 p.m. to climax the celebration. Tennis shoes or the like will be in order. eight-year-old- s, Deputies, Jeep Patrol Search for Missing Person BE Box Elder county sheriffs deputies and members of the county jeep patrol continued a search Wednesday night for a California man who left his car on a dead end road one mile north of the Fielding store. Sheriff Warren Hyde said the man, Martin Vincent Garcia, 27, Laguna Hill, Calif, described as Mexican, brown hair and eyes, 157 pounds and six feet tall, left his car with the engine running in front of the Norman E. Miller residence Tuesday at about 11:30 a.m. He then walked out in a field. The man was later seen walking without a shirt or shoes, a halt mile west of the area where he left his car, according to the sheriff. ious Tmgllmlt made two things clear at the outset: The board feels it has gone as far as it can go on pay raises. Matthews conceded that hopes were dim for obtaining a separate master agreement. "Most of our concern right now is to see If we cant get the salary pay divided (Continued on Page Three) FENCE COMES DOWN Brigham City workmen take down barbed wire fence that has kept public off John Adams park since it was planted a year ago. The city council decided on a split vote last week to take down the wire strands, making the northeast area park available to citizens who want to use it. There is a warning, however: No horses or motorbikes are permitted on the park. Violators will be subject to arrest. - |
