Well, not literally rocks, but a knowledge of them and how they are formed. Students of Miss Karal Glenn have recently studied about igneous rock, formed deep in the earth, and about sedimentary rock, created when small particles are cemented together under pressure. To bring the lesson more graphically to the youngsters, they constructed a volcano of plaster of pans. The volcano was made to erupt right in the classrom. Its from volcanos that lava pours which latter forms extrusive igneous rock. rock ALSO, metamorphic came under study and the students sketched and painted a mural indicating the source and composition of each type. In addition, the students have made their own rock collection with sandstone, shale, obsedian, granite, marble, sulpher, rock salt, petrified dinosaur bone, various fossils and other specimens.
