Show r ser t letters to p s -- ' 'nv.A-- v the Editor. ,t, (EDITORS NOTE The following letter was received this week from Alma Sonne, assistant to the Council of Twelve Apostles, Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-daSaints and also chairman of the board of trustees of Utah State university ) To the Editor: On August 2 there will be a labor election at Thiokol Chemical corporation which should be of interest to all of us who hold positions of leadership in this area. If Thiokol becomes unionized, the gate will be wide open for further labor activities in our communities With this will inevitably come the unrest, the discontent, the constant threat of strikes, the disiuption of happy relations, and uncertainty and suspense for business and community leaders as well as families. There is no question that labor organizations have accomplished much good . . . where they were needed They have created much misery and uphappiness wheie they were not needed. We dont believe unionization is needed in northern Utah. Thiokols wage scale is above union stale Lmployee benefits have been generous. Efforts have been made to toster the personal satisfaction that always comes from a job well done This is good for both employee and employer. We have a lot to lose with union organization in our area. For that reason we urge you to do what you can to get employees at Thiokol you may know to BE SURE AND VOTE in the Aug 2 elections and to vote RIGHT!
