Life. possible that we underestimate the value of what these different Clubs and oivlo organizations mean to us and our eoonony? For a few minutes I would like to mention a few things that have happened during the past year and how we may have added to them by a more cooperative attitude It is a human weakness to attach over importance to ary move we are directly interested in and to view with utter detachment anything that doesn't happen to be our personal hobby The Chamber of Commerce has done a fine Job in its different I refer especially to moves to promote aotivity in the City Is it Nothing finer has been done any where. The managers and directors did a marvelous Job Space will not permit me to mention all oitizens who have the Blanding Frontier A and Anti-free- ze Ammo, n Co, Axe Handles Catsup and Cups D E Eggs, Energy and Ear F Flour, Film Freezer Bates, Deer Bags and Dutch Ovens Muffs and (Q K e JJ, I u ijl K Horse Shoes, Hats and Holsters Ice, Iodine and Information Juice, Jeans and Jackets Jj Lard, m Bags Guns, Gloves and Gasoline Knives, Knots and Knick-Knac- ks Laxatives and Lanterns Matches, Meat and Medecine N Nuts, Nails and Notions O Oil, p a Onions and Oysters to can boost Blanding from within nuoh more oan influence outside help to do for us what We Vick' 8, Vinegar and Vitamins iwe obligation to do Xtra Xlent Service by it is our moral Willtam R, Hurst Mayor US ".FOR EVERY ELECTRIC SERVICE Plek-u- p - for ourselves effectively than PLAY IT SAFE! CALL Water Bags, Watches and Washing Powder Q bring better fishing and hunting to The completion of the upper reservoir is a monument our area to their worth to the community The Amerioan Legion, among other things, has sponsored an This year, under lease to the Bayles Brothers, it annual redeo continued to attraot many to our City in true traditional force The Squaws and Squires square dancing , Club, through its as sociation with clubs of other communities, has drawn many people here and will continue to do so The members of the Kart era Club have Just completed a race track in the southern section of the City. This coming weekend they are sponsoring an open race meet that will draw participating parties from all over the four corners area1 The small museum instigated and nurtured by the Old Settler, is a fountain of information that will advertise our community .to the ends of far off places Hy reason for mentioning these events is because I feel oertain they can all be made greater by a more united effort Every car that is driven into our community will bring money that will be spent in the various business houses .and eventually these events, the greater will be their outside drawing appeal. I As Paul the Apostle said "The eye can not say to the hand, can no Club need of have the Karters say to the thee;" Neither Amerioan Legion or the Riders Club, or the Sportsman Club or any enother, we have no need of you. We must get the idea deeply trenched in every mind that anything that helps the individual must surely benefit the entire group .Let me say that I appreciate the different Church denomin- and other organizations to them Tires and Tarpaulins Underwear, Ungentine and Utensils Yeast, own our community life. The Parent Teachers Association, and the Teachers especially, are doing a tremendous Job of tutoring our young people and bringing dignity and refinement to our City In closing let me say that we should be more appreciative of ;the wonderful things we enjoy as a community. Just for a game let us assume that we are to be aniliated tomorrow by a hydro-jg- en bomb Lett us mentally enumerate all the pleasing things we then enjoy, enjoy them as if it were our last opportunity to do so Then let us tell each of our neibors how we jappreclate Quilts, Quarts and Quinine Rope, Rice and Raisins and Yellies sacrificing their work. I will, however, try to mention a few clubs and their accomplishment The Elk Mountain Riders sponsored a rodeo and later a horse show; this was the first show approved by the Amerioan Quarter Horses Association in this area There was shown right here in Blanding some of the top horses of the entire United States They hope to make this an annual event The Sportsman Club has worked unitedly with City officials :are making Potatoes, Pots and Pistols Yams times that are established here. Let me offer encouragement to them.
