PLANS UNDER WAY FOR BIG STATE FAIR Final preliminary arrange-ments for the holding of the Utah stat fair from October 2 to 7, have just been completed by jthe board of directors. W D. Sutton, manager of the forth-coming exposition, has made it known that every department of the fair will be well represented with a showing of Utah's "best." There is to be no diminution in the size of the displays or scope of exhibits, he declared. , The fair grounds and buildings will be in excellent shape, un-- usual care having been taken to L preserve and improve tfceii. The exposition buildings are now adequate to give a representa-tive showing of the state's re-sources, industries and schools. Appeals have been sent out to ! J The Drone J YELLOWSTONE BEARS RAID CAMP The Bingham officials who have been on a vacation at the Yellowstone Park had quite a time in keeping the bears from stealing their supplies. Water Master Robbins had a strenuous time one night and had to bela-bour one of the bears with an axe handle. Altho Mr. Bear got away with all the bacon Bill says a man should be permitted to kill one off once in a while. BINGHAM SECURES NEW FIRE TRUCK F. A. Miller and City Clerk F. W. Quinn returned from Og-de- n on Monday where they un-crat- ed the new G. M. C. truck, one and a half tons, which has been purchased from the Govern-ment. The truck is now being painted and refitted for fire fight-ing in Bingham and when com-pleted will be one of the best fire fighting equipments in the state. BINGHAM OFFICIALS RE-TURN " FROM VACATION Mayor F. S. Straup, Water Master Bill Robbins, Night Policeman Tom Mayne and Tom-my Evans and Westley Straup returned to camp on Wednesday evening after spending a deligt-fu- l time sight-seein- g and fishing in the Yellowstone Park and district. UTAH COPPER CO. WILL GIVE EMPLOYEES BIG TIME Under the able supervision of Harry Pautsch, Ed. Gaythwaite, L. B. Christensen and Harry Steele the employees of the Utah Copper Co., with thir wives and families, numbering over 1,000 persons, will be transported ov-er the B. and G. Railroad, on Friday, August 25th, and taken to the Lagoon Resort at the ex-pense of the company. Prizes will be given for racing, jumping and other sports which will be followed by a luncheon with dancing after. ITALIANS LEAVE BINGHAM CAMP FOR COALFIELDS Approximately 200 Italians have quit the different mines of the camp and have left for the - coalfieldds throughout Utah, which will handicap in some -- mtasarrethe output of the mines of the Bingham district. It has been given out that Italian labor is preferable in the coal mining camps of the state. CITY MARSHAL LEFT AT IDAHO FALLS City Marshall Frank Thomp-son was unable to return to camp with the other city officials and we regret to note is suffering from an acute attack of lagrippe at Idaho Falls, where he had to lay over. Doctor Straup how-ever, expects he will be fully re-covered in a few days. L. D. S. CHURCH SUNDAY SCHOOL ENJOY PICNIC A large number of the schol-ars of the h-- D. S. church. Sun-day school spent a pleasant day with their parents and friends at Liberty park, Salt Lake City, on Wednesday. A delightful luncheon was served and games and sports of all kinds indulged in. Straup Dr. Frazier had charge of the Bingham Hospitah George Skinner, for ten years a trusted employee of the Utah Copper Co., was in camp on Thursday representing the Val-entine Bedding & Manufacturing Co. of Salt Lake City. Miss Teddy Ward entertained 'Miss Irene Conway, Dell Davis and George Pixton Sunday eve-ning. . Miss Maud Millner of Spanish Fork' is spending a week here with her brother, Mr. A. Millner. Mrs. J. J. Doyle visited with her mother Mrs. Stafford at Salt Lake City the past week. Kenneth Gibson is a patient at the Holy Cross hospital in Salt Lake City-Horac- e Aven of Copperfield returned from a pleasant vaca-tion at Brighton. - Mrs. Joe Merritt and daughter Mrs. Pease are visiting with friends at Salt Lake City this week. Mr. and Mrs.,W. B. Robbe left camp on Thursday for a mo-tor trip through the Yellowstone country, later they intend taking in the sights of Bryce canyon. Mrs. Roy Hughes and Mrs. Frank Stringham spent Wed-nesday last at Salt Lake City visiting their many friends. The F. O. N. Club met at the home of Miss Phoebe Masters on Thursday night. Dancing and songs were the features of the evening. Those who attended were Mrs. Lee Dean and the Misses Ivy James, Agnes James, Lillian Chiara and Phoebe and Annie Masters- - A dainty lunch-eon was served. Senator and Mrs. Standlsh and daughter are expected to return by the last of the week from their Yellowstone trip. A benefit dance was given foi the benefit of the Railroad Shop-men and their families at Smith's Hall on Wednesday eve-ning. A Bingham orchestra fur-nished the music to afairly well attended gathering. Hebe Crump of Harriman, an associate of the L. D. S. Church for many years is a patient at the Bingham hospital and is de-sirous of meeting any members of his church in Bingham. Smith, the affable man-ager of the Highland Boy store returned from the Midway Hot Pots this week where he spent an agreeable vacation. Charles Nutting.
