Show MINER MEETS DEATH WHEN FALLS 150 FT. Funeral services are being arranged ar-ranged here for John F. Valdez, 34, Copperfield, who died Monday night of injuries received when he fell 150 feet down an ore chute in the United States Smelting, Refining Re-fining and Mining company mine here. Valdez received a broken neck, broken back and multiple fractures of his right leg in the fall down the chute. He died at 6:10 p. m. in the hospital here. The accident occurred, according to Investigators, when a lagging i platform on which the miner was I standing broke as he hoisted a bulkhead. It was necessary to take out the side of the chute to free the injured man. Valdez came to Bingham from New Mexico nine years ago. Surviving Sur-viving are his widow, Mrs. Molly Gandrit Valdez, and five children, Teddy, Carlo, Margaret, Johnny and Bobby, who is only 3 months old. A brother and two sisters also survive in New Mexico. |
