Show -v MAYOR MORLEY'S FATHER NOTES 94th BIRTHDAY From a clipping from a Sheffield, Shef-field, Pa., newspaper, Horace Morley observed his 94th birthday birth-day anniversary on January 13. Mr. Morley was born in 1857 in Hancock, N. Y., md came to Sheffield and vicinity about 62 years ago. He was superintendent superintend-ent for the Pennsylvania Gas company until his retirement about 1925. His health is reported as excellent ex-cellent and still gardens each summer. His daughter, Mrs. Grace Miller of Barnes, reported 200 quarts of foodstuffs canned last summer from what he produced pro-duced in his garden, together with 100 bushels of potatoes. Mrs. Miller entertained with a family dinner honoring her father. fa-ther. Mr. Morley is the father of Mayor C. A. "Spud" Morley of Bingham Canyon. O Boulder, Colo. Two people from Lark and a Bingham Canyon Can-yon resident are contributing to the University of Colorado's record re-cord of "75 years of service to Colorado and the nation." More than 137,000 have attended the university since its founding. The high point of Colorado's anniversary year will be Jan. 26-27 26-27 on the Boulder and Denver campuses. University alumni from all over the country will take part in this event. Stuart Cuthbertson, faculty member and chairman of the 75th anniversary observance, said, "In line with the serious mood of the times, our observance will heavily stress the intellectual side of university life." Among those ' who Attended the university from this vicinity who are members of the Associated Associ-ated Alumni are: Mr. and Mrs. Clyde W. Gillam of Lark and Rev. Earl Lake of Bingham. |
